New Tank Pics

DRC69 asked for some pics of my new setup. I have to say that I hardly did any work here. Dave, the guy I bought it from had completed nearly everything besides a gloss coat on the canopy and paint on the doors. I just added my livestock, equipment, electrical, lights, ballasts, controller, etc.
I'd like to thank him for the awesome deal, as I can tell that a ton of hard work went into his setup.

I went from a 60g to this 150. As you can see, I have a lot of room for new corals and I'm looking to stock it well soon. It's only about two weeks old, so dont mind the empty space!! Right now it is half bare bottom half sand, as I washed all of my old sand and currently re-curing/re-seeding it in a bin.

Sump pic...still looking for a good place to mount my router once I hook it into the AC Jr.

I ran power to this side of the sump so I wouldn’t have to run wires to the other side for top off, controller, skimmer, reactor, etc.

Dave made this cool wooden track I can adjust each halide about 2ft in either direction. I'd like to add two light mover tracks to the system for better, full coverage. I like the way the canopy swings open from the front, it gives all the access I need.

I mounted my ballasts on top of the canopy to keep the heat out.

A pic of my SFE, pretty reef safe if you ask me. Besides being a feed hog, he doesn’t bother anything as he's a natural crustacean eater, but I even have a coral banded shrimp he lives with cooperatively. You can see the half BB here too.

Thanks again Dave!!

Was the Linksys router hard to modify to work with the AC Jr directly or is the router for a computer nearby?

Cooltank you did a really NICE job on the setup.
Thanks for the pics. Everything looks clean and well done.
See you at the Reef-A-Palooza.
Good Job. A lot of hard-work.

Wow, thanks for all the compliments!! Like I said, I cant wait to stock it up.

The router will plug directly to the AC Jr and be used as a wireless bridge with virtual serial port to connect over wifi, so no need for a computer to be running, just two routers and my cable modem. I'm usually all about saving power. I have yet to pay over $90 for an electric bill. The mod is fairly simple, just need to solder in a db9 port, route a hole for it, and flash the firmware. Data storage on SD memory can also be soldered in. I have the parts ordered for all of the above (about $25) and should have it up and running by the end of next week. The most expensive part is the aquanotes software...I think $75 is outrageous, considering that you can buy the base ac jr for another $75. At least they do offer a free version. Too bad it doesnt have a webserver built in.

I think the new electric bill is going to be higher with the new tank????
My last months bill was about $250.00 with the A/C on for the house. I did set it a little higher (about 83) then my wife wanted, O'well I said to here. So I was happy with that amount.

what's the smallest size fish that you have in the tank? do you have a glass cover on the top of your tank?

Pseudochromis, about an 1&1/2"
No need for a glass cover, the canopy is built in a way that no fish can jump out unless they can jump about 24" up and over. If you're asking because of the SFE, he did jump out of my old tank once. I found him dried up on the tile...I mean DRY!! No puddle or anything and I swear rigamortisis had set in. I put him back in some water and he swam right away.

I think it will actually be less. Here's my reasoning. The only things added is the new panworld 100px-x (130W) and two Tunze 6060's I run in cycles (11w total). That's 141 "stated" watts. In turn I got rid of my Mag5(45w), Mag12(110w), and 1/10hp chiller (too many variables to determine exact wattage). Either way, just in pumps, I lost 14 watts, throw in the chiller and I save even more power!!
I ran AC about 15 days last month and my bill was $90 + change, it's just a window AC but it keeps my living room cool and one of the bedrooms if I keep the other doors closed. Without AC total bill with old tank was $60.

cooltank, do you get any sandstorms with your tunze mounted like that? I had to move my tunzes around quite a few times to get it to stop moving my sand around.

Well,
That bill (electric) was cheap at $90.00. Oh did you buy a new pump for the tank? Didn't he have a 50px on there?
I low-balled David on the setup, but I'm glad you bought it and it came out really nice.
Plus it was really hot that weekend to move all that stuff.
I just wasn't up to it.

I cant imagine getting a better deal than I did. :D
It's a 100px-x pump.

I'm glad to see it worked out! Looks nice!! I definately miss it, but there is nooo way it would have fit in my tiny new house. Come by sometime to pick up that actinic and the other endcaps. I'll PM you my address.
