New tank planning phases 56g column tank - lots of ??s, really want this to go well!

I found my purple M. doreensis at Marine Oasis not too long ago for a very reasonable price so I'm sure you'd be able to find one somewhere along the way.

1" - 2" sandbed, some open space and a large rock to snuggle up to makes for a good M. doreensis home.
This species doesn't like extreme water motion or extremely bright light IME.
You'll have to keep your eye out for a purple one but it will be worth the wait IMO.

So, if I were to mound the 250w MH on one side, and the T5s only on the other, would it prefer the T5 side? (the tank is 24" high, and I planned the lighting 9" above waterline.)

Well, I've got a while to go yet, and then the system needs to stabilize when it starts running. Hopefully I'll learn to exercise some patience by the time it's running and it will make waiting for a purple one easier

Hey Angela,
I think what block head was trying to tell you is that the new "cube" tanks do no have center braces.

I have your exact light on my 30x30x24" cube. I hang it over the center of the tank with a couple metal hooks that come up the back of the tank. It spreads pretty good, but is still a ton of light. Par measurments in the middle center were in the 400-500, while the bottom front has a zone of around 100 par for my Scolymias.
