New Tank with Algae Problems

We have had our tank for nearly 3 months and constantly battle algae. Are large water changes the answer, or should I leave the green water in there to promote quicker cycling?

What are your nutrient levels (nitrates and phosphates primarily). If these are zero, then I would just chalk this up to being a new tank. If these levels are high, get things straightened out before it becomes an even bigger problem. If they are zero, just let nature take its coarse in establishing your tank and do routine maintenance.

I agree, you need to perform a water test. What are the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH levels in the tank. Figure out those and go from there.
