New tank

I am in process of setting up a tank where the center piece will be an anemone. I am partial to the Black Ocel. Therefore the gigantea is one that I'm interested in. The tank is a 72 gal. It currently has VHO (440W).

I don't know where to get a good anemone. The local stores seem to have a very limited selection (which is not a bad thing). So could you guys help me find a reputable source?

Thanks
Cory

Also considering polymnus/haddoni.

Easier to keep anemone, would not have to change lights etc.

Still just looking for a good source.

on the subject if there were say a 30gal cube with 4 x 24" T5's on the tank could you keep a Carpet and a pair of clowns no prob.

flow will be no issue and it would be grow out until the 300gal main tank is up? i guess same question as above just different size tank.

Besides the fact that gigantea are exponentially more difficult that haddoni, it may take you years to find a gigantea that is in good enough condition to purchase.

I would let the local store know what you are looking for and ask them to order one when they become available through their wholesalers. I'm not a real fan of online anemone buying, because I can't see them for myself.

FWIW: Most of the nice carpets seem to come in during the winter and spring months.

I have had success with several anemones in the past (quad, crispa, malu). I think the key is that you have the system for the anemone not get the anemone for your existing system.

im not worried as im looking for a mertens ( grinning at phil )

do you think a 30cube dedicated just for the mertens would be good.

it would be just the anemone and a pair of clowns.

I wouldn't think of trying a gigantia in that set up. My 72 has 2 250 iwasaki and 200 VHO actinic. But I just have an LTA.
