New Tank!

Do the mushrooms look like they are doing alright? As you can see from the bottom one they've grown considerably from the top one.

You seem to be well on your way to saltwaterdom, if thats even a word! Your damsels should be fine in your tank with other fish, I have had mine in my tank for almost 21 years now, just move a few rocks around when adding new fish to confuse them, they are great little fish. When they are "mad" they turn almost black. All SW fish are aggressive, they have to be to survive. I had a Eibli angel take out an eye of a clown fish because it would not leave it alone. Again, best of luck. Happy New Year.
Mike.

Saltwaterdom! Awesome!

Well thanks for the kind words. I'm just glad there is somewhere I can go to ask questions without feeling like I'm burdening anyone or feeling like I'm being given a rushed/half-assed answer.

Oh and don't mind the glass next to the mushrooms. There's a small white crab thats been living under the blue polyps in the center and I have no idea what kind it is. Been trying to coax it out with some meat in the glass hoping it'd fall in, but it hasn't worked too well.

Okay, figured I'd post an update!

The tank is about 6 months old now and I've had relatively good success. The only deaths so far is a Maroon clown, which died for no reason that I could find, and an Orange-Spot Goby that decided to go carpet surfing. All my other fish have done great and the corals too.

The only problem we're facing now is that the stand the tank is on is starting to bow out a bit. We were going to build a new stand, then spend a day moving stuff around and turn the tank into an in-wall with all the plumbing in the basement....but.... we've always hated how the tank is so thin that we couldn't do much with the aquascaping other than a sheer rock wall.

My LFS has had an Oceanic 120g pre-drilled tank lying around for several months because a customer decided they didn't want it. Well.... we got them talked down to $500 on it and decided to buy it today. It's 48.5"x24.5"x25".

So the new tank specs will be once its finished:

120g Oceanic AGA Reef Ready
New stand made out of 2" steel tubing coated with waterproof epoxy to prevent rusting
48" home-built acrylic sump and refugium
Aquaspacelight 2x250watt HQI + 2xT5 actinic
Euroreef CS-135 Skimmer
Lots and lots of different pumps/flow regulators

We've still got a lot of plumbing and other stuff to do, so I'll post some photos of that when we begin, and I'll also post some photos of the tank when my BF brings it home in a little bit here. I can't wait to get all this set up again hehehe

Here's some eye-candy photos for you while you wait! I was playing with different functions a bit, so some of them may look browned out. Enjoy anyways
