Ok, first iam not exactly new but I'am looking to start a Fish only tank. Mainly a predator tank. The first question is what size would the tank i got from craigslist be? (5' x 18" x 24"h) I got an awesome deal on this tank. $200 for an acrylic tank a stand and hood. It also came with a magnum 350, however i plan on using a 20 gallon long as the sump and running the magnum with carbon in it. Next thing is Iam thinking about getting two lion fish, and possibly an eel. would that be okay? If not what would be okay for this tank?

112 gallons.. there is a calculator on the home page here.. and I am not sure about your other stocking question.. I would think so depends on the eel...

they should be fine but why do you want a predator tank?just think later on down the road after seeing all these tanks on rc how much nicer a tank with tangs and corals look maybe you should look at a bunch of tank threads and then make a decision

i want a predator tank because i already have a reef tank. Besides the girlfriend wants more fish, and shes not putting them into my reef! It also seems like every fish i would want is not reef safe.

your eel will eventually try to eat a lion (depending on what eel you get)......both would die in this attempt...IMO. I would pass on the eel. Lions would be VERY cool, especially the Volitans, but then again, they will eat anything smaller then them.....Have you looked into triggers?
