New tek lighting

My 4 foot 48 inch, 4 bulb lighting arrived with legs and bulbs. I wasnt sure if it was going to be adequate for a 72g but this thing is as bright as the damn sun lol. I m really happy with the purchase. I ll try to post pics but the corals seem a little shocked by the lighting. Legs are raised up as high as they can go. I am not sure how i should set the timer for new lighting and at what rate to lower the legs.

Congrats on the new light.

Acclimate your coral's slowly. Use layers of window screening and remove a layer each week

What are you planning to put in the tank? I have a 72g and was going to go with the 6 bulb Tek as I thought the 4 bulb was too weak for corals.

i have a 6 bulb you cant go from a 4 bulb to a 6 bulb gety a 6 bulb and just use 4 bulbs or all 6

The 6 bulb tek will over hang in the front on a 72 bow and spill light. check out the width online of the 6. You will be surprised how bright the 4 bulb unit can be. Aguactronic i belive makes a 5 bulb unit that is not as wide as the tek.

I keep a hodge podge of things(rics, zoos, toodstool, hammer, bubble, echin, etc. My clam has been up high under a power compacts for the past 6 months (shh dont tell). I lowered it down a bit with the new lighting.

I have a 72 bow and use the tek 54W four light retro.

bllfish what is your bulb arrangement. I have 2 aqua blues and 2 blue plus. I feel i m gettn to much of a bluish tint. I have the 'whiter' bulbs on the outside. all four are DD Geis bulbs. would a ge 6500 help? It would be a bit bright for the morning when the first set of lights came on

Front to back:
blue+
aquablue
GE 6500 daylight
blue+

I have the both blue+ come on first in the morning and they are the last two to go off.
I have the GE 6500 daylight third from the front, the aquablue second from the front and they come 2 hours after the blue + and go off one hour before the blue+ at night.

a friend of mine has a 72 bowfront lit by 4 x4 feet of vho, and he has numerous corals in it, but no SPS, and they all did fine, so 4x54 of t5ho woth proper reflectors is more than adequate.

Gotcha, the other right,
these are some type of palyothoa or protopalyI THINK. I got them from a local reefer. He gave them to me and they are spreading.

Wow glad I read this. I didn't even think of the width of the 6 bulb setups. I have the 72 bow as well and was getting ready to order the other Tek setup. btw, I noticed you have moonlights. How did you attach them? The Tek I was looking at didn't have them.
