New tele-converter = more macro fun

I finally got my 1.4x tele-converter to go with my 100mm F/2.8 macro. It gives me more magnification beyond the minimum focusing distance which is most helpful for aquarium photography. I also ordered a set of extension tubes and should have fun with those once they arrive. Oh, I also got a new Manfrotto tripod and ball head today to test everything out since I have been using a Bestbuy $20 special for almost a year now, it was about time to upgrade. Enjoy!

Yeah the brain, i couldn't tell if you didn't say what it was.

What tripod did you buy ?
I was looking for :
Bogen / Manfrotto 3021BPRO Tripod Legs (Black) with 488RC2 Midi Ballhead (RC2 Quick Release) - Supports 11.8 lb (5.4 kg)

I got the Manfrotto 3001Pro (the little brother to the 3021) and the same head. I went with the 3001 since it is small enough to fit in a carry-on bag for airport trips and light enough to hike with. I went and saw the 3021 in person and it's pretty bulky, nothing I would really want to lug around. I'm happy with the combo I got, it's plenty sturdy.

What were your setting on a few of the photos if you dont mind. I am getting used to my D80 before i got dive into my macro shots. I have a 100mm 2.8 macro tamron lens, but i havn't used it yet besides mounting it and shooting a few shots. I am messing around figuring out my f's, iso's, shutter speed before i mess with teh macro. Get a little acquainted first.

The first and fourth are my favorites.
All of the shots are beautiful. The world looks so much better
through a macro lens.. :)

Do you have a brand name for the tele-converter? I have the XTi and the same 100 mm macro lense. Those shots are awesome!! Where can you get one?

Straight from Hong Kong baby! I use the Kenko 1.4x Pro 300 DG, it was like $130 shipped. DON'T buy the Canon TC, it won't work with the 100mm but the Kenko does just fine. I don't notice any loss of quality, the 100% crops on those pictures were still tack sharp.
