Howdy New Mexico Ocean Keepers! I'm new to the albuquerque area. Me and the family are moving here from Minnesota. I've been checking out your forum and your website and its got me kind of excited. Excited enough to sign up to Reef Central. I've never done anything like this before and i have to admit it's kind of cool. I'm happy to learn that their are people that share my interests here in New Mexico. I'm mainly into reef, SPS for the most part. Where is this Coral Island place at? You all are talking about, and do they have acros? I've found Southwest Reef Company. Mainly softies and fish. Not really my style. How is city water quality out here? The lady at Southwest Reef Co said they didn't filter their water. Is that common practice out here? Well the family and i will be getting settled in the first of the year. I look forward to meeting everyone.

I think you are talking about Jen. I know they have an RO unit. I think she was talking about the city doesnt filter the water. Alb water can be prety bad depending where you are at. If you are talking about Jen then I am pretty sure that they use RO water since they have an RO unit.

SWRC is setting up a look down Acro and clam tank right in th main lobby.

SWRC doesnt have an RO unit. Unless they put it in sometime last week. Ive spent enough time there in the last couple months to have noticed.

Sorry I wasnt talking about SWRC. I know Jen and Eric have an RO. Most hobbist use RO. The retail stores dont use it that I know of.

I talked to rob just the other night on the phone we talk about his idea of a SPS and clam tank/tub rally cool if you ask me. New ideas and perspective is what I like to see, and if you haven’t seen a setup like this its cool looking down on clams and coral is an eye opening experience and as fare as the water thing I am shore he will be using RO-DI for this setup he is talking some crazy high end stuff. oh ya Rob is the part owner/operator of S.W.R.C he has been one of the mane NaCl-H2O in this town for some time, but check out all the stores in town. These are the peeps to take to

Coral Island - ERIC OR BRIAN
Fins and critters - GARY (old school)
Clarke’s pet supply - ?????
emperors ocean - Jason
Southwest reef co. â€"œ ROB

I would take the time and talk with all of them, you will get a better idea about the fish seen here in ABQ. Welcome to the land of enchantment.
It will be nice to have one more acro friend in town not to many of as out here yet!!! (check the acro roll Call) and thanks for taking the time to sing up and post the peeps do a lot of looking around here.

BiG PROPES to tigersax7 for the Great New Mexico nano build off.

Sea-man welcome! Have you figured out how you will do the move of your tank??? Reason I mention is I lost all my corals when I moved here last year. I do have extra empty tanks if you need to store your corals or if I can help. When you are moving it is hard to do everything right off. PM me if you want to talk about it.

moving sucks

Thank U but no thanks, Some of my colonies have been with me for 5-6 years and would hardly trust some of my fish buddies up here in Minnesota with them, not only that but I read you had red bugs or have red bugs there has been no updateon that subject yet. I love these corals, so with that being said I own a biz. Here in Minn and have set up a tank at the office to keep them and when I am settled in ABQ. I will have them fed-ex down. Frag for all at that time, ( there will be some shipping damage) and I will take some frag to Eric at coral island, to be distributed. Thank to all for the head up on that place. I think it has got lots of potential. Hope to meet some of you soon.

If you do need any help unboxing, handeling or just a beer buddy for help in setup, I am sure many of us are willing to help, myself included. :)

ok my offer was for empty tanks so the red bugs wouldn't have been there. glad you have it under control. I will be done with my red bugs soon...hopefully.
