New to anemones how to start

I am setting up aq in school biology lab. The space they allowed me is big enough for a 20 g long. Next to the already established 15 gallon that I setup up 6 months ago. Would like to do a Rbta with a pair of clowns. Can I get by with 4 t5 or do I have to use led. These 20s are shallow.

I would think 4 t5 would be enough on a 20L. They are really shallow. Just make sure to give the tank plenty of time to get stable. Anemones are super sensitive.

thanks nemmy . I plan to go super slow. Just wanted to shoot for a goal. I plan to set this up now so that it has time to develop the sand bed and microfauna and cycle through the different algal and diatom blooms. Hopefully by December it will be ready.

If your tank has not been running 6mo I wouldn't recommend it. Tank raised are your best bet for longevity.

well I thought 9 months would be ok since I plan to connect it to the 15gal I have set up since Late October. Of course if it doesnt seem right I wont. My end goal is to have one so if it takes a year then so be it. HVAC guy does having 4 t5 at 96 watts seem ok for a 20 long to you?. I forgot to ask Nemmy or put this in my question...What is the watts per gallon magic number I should be shooting for. should I look at LED or a combo of the two? unfortunately I do not have a par meter to tell. I am on a budget so I would like to stay away from LED. I also am limited to power in the space I have. I have 3 outlets that I can use. which seem to be taken up by half of the lights and half by the filtration. the next question is do the anemones need high flow rates? I assume yes so that i would put a propeller pump at one end of the 20 gal for part laminar flow. I would like it to be sort of a grass tank on one side with the clowns and the anemone on the other side. I realize that the spectrum of lighting is warmer with the grasses but will that have a big effect on the anemone. Which spectrum range is best for anemones? Sorry for all the questions. I would like to start down the right road and not waste money by not planning properly.

I had Haitian anemone in a 20 long live for years on a compact florescent 110wats which 5.5wats per gal. not sure the convergent is T5's but sound like enough for a 20 long. I suggest Ocellaris they will do fine in the 20gal. as long as they have no other fish with them. Because when the clowns mate they will claim the entire tank and kill anyone who comes close to there nest.
