I just moved to the area from Mobile, Al. and lost most of my fish, oddly enough the move was fine but somehow in the process my protien skimmer pump had its wire shaved and fried most everything while I was at work. Anyway, I am looking for all the local shops in the areas around seymour; Knoxville, Maryville, Powell, etc.
so far I have been to the following:
The Coral Reef: - The prices are good for the most part but aside from there great clownfish selection they are kind of hit or miss on their selection, more my fault for not being there on delivery day I'm sure.

Fins and Skins: - always hit or miss on selection sometimes really amazing sometimes nothing to look at, and its the same with their prices some things blow me away somethings are 2 to 3 times more than anywhere else.

The Aquarium: - Extremely high on their prices for fish, some corals are decent but their selection is usually really good.

The shops are no doubt better here but would like to check out a few more.

Alot of them are closed im updating the list now and keeping a copy so I can find them without searching the world for a closed shop. But thanks for the help.

The PetCo in Farragut carries saltwater, too, but omg.. When I was in there the other day, most of their salt tanks are completely covered in cyano. The actually had one or two nice corals in there but they are slowly being smothered by the stuff. o_0

I work about 500 feet away from the Petco in Farragut. It was a welcome change from the usual Petsmart locations in Knoxville, but I haven't really found their selection or quality to be that great for fresh or saltwater.

On the other hand, I stopped into Aquatic Marine (for the first time) the other day and met Russel; a REALLY nice guy if you're looking for some basic advice. I'm pretty new to the hobby (6 months or so) and he gave me some really helpful tips, not the "sales pitch" type stuff I'm used to finding in another store in the area.

Not naming names, but I'm NOT referring to Coral Reef, love that place as well.

Aquatic Marine and Coral Reef are the best reef stores in town. Aquarium is good, too, with the limits you noticed, but they usually have a good selection of repair parts, too.

Yeah, you will probably find that Coral Reef and Aquatic Marine are the best for giving straight advice, rather than a sales pitch. They are my two favorite places in town. The Aquarium is a nice place to go look around, but I have found their prices can sometimes be much higher than other places. It also is a little bit irritating when you go in and about half the saltwater stuff is not for sale. I understand having some things that they are propogating, but when it's half the selection, and they don't have frags of the stuff for sale, it seems more like you're in a museum than a store.

Russell's on the forum here also. He uses the name Flavum.
