Hey Everybody, I just moved into orlando 3 weeks ago and did a little fish store tour last weekend. I got the names off of your store listing post and decided to check out the ones that everybody says are the best. There are a lot of nice stores in central florida. Here is what I thought:
Ocean Direct had a nice selection with great prices but mostly just the common stuff, nothing that really caught my eye. Great price on rock.
Word Wide Corals has some really nice corals but they nothing is priced and the prices change depending on who you ask. Also every tank was running just actinics when I was there so of course everything looked way more colorful than it would look in a real tank. Not as impressive as everyone talks about.
Sea in the city was a nice store and everybody working there was extremely friendly and helpful. The only downside is that a lot of the corals aren't for sale but they explained that they had some issues with thier farm and they were just storing them there so that is understandable.
Reefworks was my favorite of all the stores I visited. Everything is laid out and priced clearly and they have a great selection of colorful corals including a lot of aussie stuff, frags and colonies. They also have a $10 frag tank with some awesome corals in it. They are working on their coral tanks some are a little taken apart right now but the new tank setups are looking great.
Seven seas aquarium was a decent looking store but not a single person even said hi for the 20 minutes I was looking around so I left.
Those are the stores I visited last weekend and hope to see the rest of them real soon. Thanks for all of the great info on this site and hope to meet many of the fellow reefers in orlando.
