Okay guys, just moved to the chicago area last week (Steger to be exact) and I need 2 things right now.
1. a LFS that is relatively close to me and
2. some cheap RO water.

I'm trying to get me seahorse tank up and running here soon and I am low on funds a the moment with the move and all, but I've got someone watching my horses in Vegas but I need to get them soon before their welcome is worn out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm gathering that as I am trying to find things. It's not a permant placement, but this is where I landed for now. I guess close is a relative term. I'm just not up to driving to the north of Chicago if I don't have to. The truth is the expressways here scare the you know what out of me!

Welcome to the "Chicagoland" area...
ditto on the "I have no idea what LFS are around you" but use this link - Aquarium Store Finder to help you find one... :D

duh!!!!....you beat me to it eep!!!!

been to Go Fish once...
they were very nice, I think the guy's name I spoke with was Kevin...
their selection was a little weak at the time I was there but that was just a timing thing...

There are no LFS's around you. Go Fish is ok if you don't mind the trip to Orland Mall, Aquatica is ok as well. They are pretty much the closest to us. If you order online, Premium Aquatics gets to us next day with UPS ground......

Welcome to STEGER!

i liked aquatica. its huge and has a nice stocked frag tank. also has a lot of really nice fish. there is also Aquatic Environments Inc on wolf road by mokena that was alright. i think they had a huge aiptasia problem but who doesnt...

it seems that RO water is about .50 per gallon out here. Seems steep it was only about .25 per gallon back in Vegas. Is that pretty much the standard out here?

50 cents is standard. Advanced Aquatics is the highestââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Âcharges over a dollar a gallon.

It's probably a good time to consider making your own.

why not just buy an RO/DI unit and make ur own water?...
much cheaper and certainly more convenient...JMHO :p

i second that

you should probably buy the ro water to get setup while funds are low and just get the ro unit as soon as you can

You came to the wrong place, everything out here is EXPENSIVE!!! I'm just glad I am outside of cook county. I agree, getting an RO unit is usually the best bet, I'm glad I did, now we don't have to buy drinking water ever also.
