New to Fragging

I recently found a mushroom floating around on the bottom of my tank...I put it on a piece of tile and rubberband mesh over it to keep it in place...My problem is I think I put the mesh to close to it because the mushroom grew up and out of the mesh like a tree with a fence...I'm just wondering if it will be okay if I just cut the mesh as close as possible to the stalk will it be fine or is it just doomed to die? Also I have 2 filter's on my 135 Gal, a fluval fx5 and a sump. My question is, Is the Fluval to strong for my clean up crew, I don't want it sucking up all my pods, worms, and little snails, and if it does, will they go through harmlessly or will they be killed?

Floating mushrooms could mean they're not happy. May not be getting enough light...Check into that. Mushrooms are pretty hard to kill. It Will probably grow just fine even if you leave the mesh 'in' the mushroom.

Fluval is fine. Just make sure there's a grate over the intake to prevent big things from being sucked up. Snails and crab should be able to climb/crawl all over it. Wouldn't worry about them but pods will get sucked in there and live in the filter. You'll see this when you go to clean it

to answer the OP's question:

softies can "morph". it will grow through the mesh with no ill effects. so yes, you can just trim the mesh down to where you cant see much of it and the shroom will be fine.

fluvall: fortunately, microstuff isnt too messed up by the acceleration through an impeller. the larger it is, the more chance of damage. most stuff wont get sucked up into it anyway(like snails)
