I am new to anemones and just wondering a few things. 120 gallon. The anemones are the orange with green body variety.
Before I ask anything my tank stats: Sal 1.025 / Alk at 10 / Cal at 490 / pH at 8.3 / temp at 78-80 / phosphate at .5 (and soon to be zero)
I got 2 RBTA's from a friend about 4.5 months and have been trying to learn all I can about them. The tank has been established for over a year and they are in with a pair of black perc's (who pay no attention to them). I do realize that the percs and RBTA are not naturally found together in nature but as the anemones were a gift, I wanted to try and get them hosting. 1 of them seems to try and stay away from the lighting as much as possible but both seem healthy. They are under a single 20k 400w MH. I run the light about 6 hours a day. I have no bad parasites that I am aware of.
1. What tricks to get the percs interested in hosting?
2. Without hosting, how often to feed?
3. Any "hitchhikers" in a tank I should worry about? Stoma? Bristleworms?
4. Has anyone done vodka dosing with anemones? (for phos/nitrate?)
5. What other supplements do anemones need? Magnesium? anything?
The tank is healthy and everything I have is growing well. Just wanting to know more about these beautiful creatures. Thanks to anyone who can comment. If I am doing anything wrong, tell me.
