I saw this page forum about non-photosythetic corals here on RC and it looked kinda cool so i got to thinking and i decided im going to try it at one point down the road, so i need some help from you guys who already have them seeing as how there not to widely kept.

Would it be alright to keep them with photosythetic corals in my reef tank?

What do they eat and how much should i give them how often?

What kind of lighting do they need?
I have a 48inch T5 with actincs and white light and a korelia 3

I also have a cyclone skimmer and a phosban would that be alright for them to grow?

Is there certain fish and corals they can't be kept with?

and pretty much just any other information you guys can give me would be great because the only thing i know about them so far is there not photosynthetic.

also ill probably get one maybe a year or two down the road after my tank is a little bit more established because i only starte it about 2 or 3 monthes ago

I'm on the same train this guy is, wanting more information about photosynthetic coral, I meen to me it seems for the most part certain corals have certain requirements, SPS alot of light and alot of flow and pretty clean water, LPS moderate light moderate flow water kinda dirty, what would you guys say flow and water requirements are ?

These are very general answers...

What kind of NPS coral do you plan on keeping?

They do not need light, hence "non-photosynthetic." The light will be up to you based on looks.

Assuming it keeps nutrients at bay, yes.

Many NPS coral needs to be spot-fed, and many fish will pick at the polyps as your spot-feeding. I enjoy keeping lots of fish, so I feed the hell out of my fish before attempting to spot-feed the coral, and you'll be OK. You might have to chase a couple fish around for a minute while the corals eat...

The general care of NPS coral is very similar to SPS, except they do not require light, and they MUST be fed.

Flow can vary greatly depending on the species of NPS coral you're reffering to. For example Tubatrea faulkneri can be kept in pretty much all flow patterns and speeds, while Swiftia exserta will require specific flow patterns and speed just to open for food.
