New to SW

Today I set up my first SW tank at 125 gallons, so far the filter is running, heater is running, saltwater is mixed and the substrate has been put in.

I rinsed most of my substrate extremely well which consists of about 40lb crushed coral, 30lb of aquarium sand, and 30 lb of marine aquarium subtrate with live bacteria in it.

Well I rinsed the 40lb of coral and 30 lb of sand but I didnt rinse the 30 lb of marine aquarium substrate for fear of killing the bacteria.

Well my aquarium got very cloudy, so cloudy that I cant see my hand if its farther than 1in from the glass.

I put in the substrate yesturday and it was just as bad this morning.

I made a giant ball of filter padding filled with carbon but it is having little effect.

Anyway I can fix this issue,

Help a SW noob please

Thanks,

Eric

You could buy a Magnum canister filter to help it clear faster. Put as much filter floss as possible and change it a few times day and save the carbon for later. Install a 25 or 50 micron filter bag if you have a place for it, worked wonders for mine. Wait it out and it will eventually settle, but I would filter out as much as you can. You'll be fine in a few days either way.

cool, I just went out cruising the SW fish stores and brought home 20 lb of live rock, when I got back I could already see across the entire tank. I had set up a bunch of filter pads all throughout my sump and loading a big thing of carbon in there.
