New to the Anemone scene

A few questions!

I saw someone on here fragging their anemone with there bare hands, don't they sting?

What do most people use instead of powerheads so the anemones dont get sucked up?

Lighting requirements?

anemones with corals?

Yes anemone sting. same like chili is spicy, and people still eat it. An anemone sting won't kill. I have feel the pain of a fire coral scratching my chest and it hurt but it won't kill you.

a healthy anemone won't get stuck. I you have all she need in your tank, they won't even move. When an anemone get stuck on a power head is becasue they are reaching for light. Power head are ok with anemone, just get a good light for them and keep the water parameter at your best.

Some anemone require more than others. It depends on the specie. They also requiere water movement.

Anemone can be in a tank with coral, BUT!! with a lot of care. If the anemone doesn't receive the light or the water current they need, they will roam all over the t ank looking for the best spot. During that, coral can be damage.

thanks for the advice very informative! I'm thinking of drilling this 26 bow front I have to make an anemone/clown tank, I do like the RBTAs so thats prob what I would get, I have a 130w pc fixture for this tank, its 21" deep, would that be enough light?

I have powerheads in my tank and I have a anemone and I have sponges around my powerheads so that the anemone will not get sucked in.

do you know if an anemine needs the light on all the time? I have my lights on for 12 hours per day. Please let me know. thank you. Also what do they eat?

12 hours is fine. They eat small pieces of marine meat. Like shrimp or fish. Even healthy, well established anemones may up and move unexpectedly. Make sure all intakes for pumps and power heads are well protected.

15 hours might be fine for some anemones, but not others. It depends on the type and intensity of the light, as well as the species of anemone and where it was collected.

if the powerheads are up and away from any rock will they climb up the side of the tank?

yes thy can climb up the side of the tank.

It just happen to me. My branching anemone was hiding so I decided to move the rock were she were attached. The anemone end up near the power main power head. Wish is powerful enough to blow away my clown fish to the other side of the tank. The power head ate her tentacles. The body wasn't damage but she was to stressed.

I have learn that the only was to protect the anemone form a power head is a sponge on the power head. Stainer won't do anything.

can anyone who has a RBTA clarify if one will be ok in my 26 bowfront with 2 pc bulbs, it has a depth of about 17" after adding the sandbed...

I have a BTA in a 75 gal with two T5 39watt HO lights and it's doing very well. I'd say that you're 26 bow with PCs should work as well. BTA's whether green or rose are generally less light demanding than other nem.
