Hi everyone! I'm just dropping in to say hello and introduce myself. I tried to on the MTRC section of RC but it wouldn't let me but now it obviously is. So anyway, my name is Adam. I'm a 29 year old former Marine and I live in Murfreesboro. I currently have a 14g nano-cube thanks to a very good friend of mine. I had been keeping freshwater fish for a long time but was given this nano-cube for my birthday and I must say I'm hooked on saltwater tanks now. I'm already contemplating converting my 55 into a salt tank. I've been to a few meetings and actually the last two frag swaps just out of curiosity. Now I'm a full fledged member and look forward to learning a lot from you guys and watching my tank(s) progress. I might post a lot of noob questions but I do try to google for answers before I do. Anyway, that's me in a nutshell. See you guys and gals at the next meet.

Yes, this is pretty much a carbon copy of the posting on mtrc... so shoot me....

Welcome! Feel free to post all the noob questions that you wish. It is better to ask than to learn the hard way. Plus, everyone loves to give their opinion. I will say, I was very disappointed with my 55 reef. You do not have much depth to work with, so it tends to make aquascaping rather difficult. Regardless, good luck reefing and try not to get too addicted. :D

I'm with Anthony here, I was disappointed with my 55 g as well, it doesn't work well with reef tanks....Welcome to the forum!!!

Welcome aboard!

55s make great fresh tank, but not so great salt tanks. I didn't like my 55 reef either, it's currently a bad planted tank (turns out I'm not interested in freshwater!) and it's going to make a good QT tank, but not a full on tank again.

I suggest 75gal to people. Great demensions to play with and with the height you get better penetration with light. Welcome and I wish you the best.

Hay welcome to the club and I suggest going over 300 gal is the only way to go. :) By the way we have a lot of people in the boro so if you need help or just want to get together and BS let us know we try to help each other out. It helps esp if you have to go out of town and need some help with watching your tank.

I had a 55 reef for over a year. Whatever you do, do not go with the 55 for a reef. I picked up a 58 on here last year sometime for only like $150
