New to the Group

Hello all!! I just wanted to introduce myself to the group. I'm pretty new to the NRV area, and to this hobby. I'm a sophomore at Tech and was recommended to visit this site to help me getting a better grasp of everything. So, about my tank, I have a 7 mo. old 33 gal tank with a perc clown, 2 chromis, a royal grama, a sailfin tang, a scooter blenny, and numerous crabs, snails and shrimp. Ive been experimenting with what frags I can find and would love some info on what would be good to get for a beginner to get introduced to corals!

sounds like it's time to do another crawl... :)

what sort of equipment do you have? lights/skimmer/flow?

i have plenty of 'newbie frags' that i give out to all newcomers. we got you covered.
 
Right now, I don't have any pictures, but equipment wise, I have a magnum canister, a sea clone skimmer and a 10K and compact fluorescent for my lighting. I would love to upgrade to a metal halide, but 1, I don't have the cash and 2, I'm going to wait till I have a more permanent house. Now I have to ask, I know what a crawl is to a 21 year old, same meaning in here??????
 
pretty much, we just go from tank to tank to tank. it's one thing nice about being in a small town. big city clubs could never dream about hitting a bunch of tanks in one day.
 
Hey Chrissie-- I pitched another fit over the serpent star for you... :)


LPS is the hard corals, stands for Large Polyp Stoney-- stuff like frogspawn, candy cane, etc. Next time you are in I will point it out to you.

SPS is the super hard to keep stuff-- at least equipment wise. Its all that bright colored branchy stuff.

You are very lucky to be in NRVRC. You have one of the best in the hobby with manderx, IMO. I have some soft corals foc if thats the direction that you want to go. There is a RVRC meet on March 9th if you want to make the drive.http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1044813.
a great looking tank and a bar and pool table/xbox 360 to boot, sjdyer has been getting people togeather at his house the past month or two for fun and frag swap's. Good time.

kmitch and Sliver_moon, why don't you arrange a time between yourselves sometime next week to both come over to my place to pick up some lps and easy sps frags? anytime is generally fine with me as long as i have at least a few hours notice to make sure i'm there. sending an email/txt to 5409217601@vtext.com is probably the best way to get a hold of me (or just calling that number). i live on main street sorta-across from vincent's/lefty's. i'm the bright lights in the brick apartments. :)
 
Thanks for the invite to the meeting, but unfortunately I work on Fri nights, but just keep me informed and I will make it to one sometime.
 
Welcome. Since I'm the xenia pusher in the area, I can deal you some frags but we need to move quickly before the nar. agents close in...lol. Have other frags too.
