New to the hobby and I'm looking to buy some frags from fellow enthusiasts

I have a couple things in mind I want to do with my tank.
Some of the things I have in mind consist of the following,

1. Blue Ricordea
2. Stylophora - Pink
3. Frogspawn
4. Blue Zoanthids
5. Torch Corals

Definitely will take other peoples advice. These are just things that have caught my eye. I currently have a hammer that began as a single head and now has three.

Ultimately I would love to see other peoples set ups as I'm also contemplating going bigger 75g+... However I want to make sure I do as much to learn from people who have been in the hobby as much as possible.

Hey! I have got a couple things I could help you get started with if you wanted to stop by and take a look. All my stuff is nice, no fillers basically. I'm not greedy, if I have a good size colony I'll hook you up with a head or so for cheap, and info is always free lol. Im always eager to get someone going in this great hobby in the right direction.

Thanks Brian, definitely saw your post. Glad you have pictures up now! There are definitely things you have that catch my eye (my only concern is the drive from Buffalo to Palmyra. Main concern would be that I'm spending more in gas then what I would save from a LFS.

Hang over the filter for a 50g (yes I know, I shouldn't have a hang on filter),
Approx 6lbs of live rock
Live sand
SolarmaxHE (2 T5's) one 10,000k, and 1 blue actinic

Livestock
2 clowns
Cleaner shrimp
Dwarf Flame
1 Hammer Coral which started off as 1 head and within a couple weeks has already sprouted 2 new heads and looks absolutely amazing.
Couple of Blue legged hermit craps, snails, etc

Paramaters (as of today)
PH: 7.8
KH: 300ppm
N02: 0
N03: 20ppm
Ammonia: 0

(Parameters may be off or random as I used a cheap test kit at petsmart) I'm currently debating which test kits I would like to buy. I'm looking into redsea test kits but haven't made up my mind yet. Any suggestions? I've also seen API? in stores? What do you guys use for your test kits and how often do you generally test?

I doubt that. I priced these at or below 50% of what I paid for them. Unless you are 8 hours away. Lol. I have a guy coming from Syracuse next week. Maybe you can coordinate a trip together.

Definitely debating between redsea and API. I can get API pretty cheap as I get employer discount at Petsmart, so I might start of with API and see how I feel with it.

Hey, welcome! I would definitely say to get more liverock. If you have 6lbs in a 15g tank, you should have 15lbs to 20lbs

I would recommend upgrading to that 75+ sooner rather than later. Bigger tanks are often easier to maintain and keep stable for beginners. If you don't want to go huge, then I'd say grab a 55 for a starter tank. It's not very wide, but keeping the parameters steady will be alot easier for you.

The main problem with the 15 you got there is going to be salinity swings. If you don't top off at least twice a day, it's going to constantly bounce up and down which can stress out your tenants. To get happy fish and good coral growth, constant is the key!

I've had this set up for about 7months and have been doing fine with the parameters. Both the fish and my current hammer seem extremely lively/healthy. However, yes, I completely agree with you in that a bigger tank is easier (aka: more forgiving). I definitely am planning on getting a bigger tank but it's not really feasible at the moment as my landlord would murder me.

Yeah, I've read a couple books that suggest "require" 1lb of live rock per gallon. I'm slowly getting liverock as I go as I like to get pieces that I think fit in with the "scheme" so to say. Thanks for the advice!
