New to the hobby...

Bob,
IMO, I wouldn't purchase a stand until I decided on the size/configuration of the tank I wanted. Also, you need to decide what type of lighting you are going to utilize/need, (based on FOWLR or Reef), for example if you were going to use metal halides instead of VHO, T-5's etc you would want a deeper canopy. Just my opinion.

All good points....

I will wait and be patient....

I want to do a reef... but the cost of the lighting seems daunting :( Right now I have 2/ 24" Coralife fixtures with fresh 96w 50/50 bulbs

It hasnt been a good day for the tank... My diamond Gobe made a jump for it and bit the dust :(

Ok Figured I would post a few pics now that Myself and the cleanup crew have done some work

Here are the tangs

Hope I don't kill this one

My right light just went out :( These rocks used to be covered in brown algae now only some green is left.. I am working on it

talked to the wife last night and we decided our goal tank is a 75g bowfront /stand/hood ect..

Get the 75 and use the 55 as a sump ;)
the difference in setup between the two is not that much, but later you are going to regret the money you spend on the 55 when what you really wanted was a 75
