New to the Nano reef

Just got off the phone again with the Claire from UPS. new nano will be here by 4pm EST. Then the rebuilding begins.

You guys are not going to believe this. I just got the cube, got it out of the box and there is a HUGE crack across the front of it.

I swear to god.

Oh man that sucks!! I would immediately call them, go buy one at the store and demand that the company reimburse you for the one you have to buy as well as send you pre-paid shipping labels to return the other two...after you take pics for them of course...just burn them on to a CD and throw it at them...

Sorry to hear about this man...don't let it get ya down though...just think, things can only get better from here...

Now you may want to get a 10 gallon tank. They should be super cheap (less than $20).

Just set it up on a counter and put your fish, corals and some rock in that with the hood on it for light.

You can keep the other half of the rock in the other bucket.

Good Luck, hope you get it up and going again.....

I just spoke with them and they are attempting to find a store in the area that carries nanocubes. They said i could go exchange the broken one for a good one.

I am just waiting to hear back from them.

MAN!!!! Almost enough to make you cuss LOUDLY huh? I have a 10G QT with my original DX12 hood on it and one of those small HOB WalMart filters. Works good. I wish you the best.

Just talked to JBJ again. They can't send another cube expedited because UPS won't guarantee that it will get here uncracked.

They have to send it ground and it will take 4 or 5 days to get here. I told them to send it out. I really have no choice at this point. I bought a plain 20 gallon and have already put the the rock, corals and fish in. I hope they last.

Steve, I'm sure you've already done so but I would definitely be demanding some compensation for all of this...this certainly isn't your fault by any means...and, if they are having problems then they need to fix them...

Good luck my friend...everything should do fine with the 20g tank...just keep you chin up and look at it this way...someone needs to pay!! *evil grin* Keep us posted...definitely have a great beginning to a build thread if you decide to put one up... ;)

I was over at Colins tonight and he told me about the crack in the tank. Man I want to cry for you! I have been back and forth with an all in one tank, this is one more reason not to get one!
I FEEL YOUR PAIN!

Tom

Thanks Tom. It was absolutely crazy. The new tank got here and I opened the box, pulled it out and lost my breath. Right there was a huge crack.

Kind of tough to see, but here it is. I put the ballast box in front of it to make it stand out more.

Steve

I see just fine. Wow! Wow!

So are you going to file a claim against Jbj? How well packed are they? If you ever seen how UPS handles a package at the sorting facility the tank would have a better chance on the 50 yard line at the Superbowl! I worked for them when I was in college part-time, it was all about speed and not care! I have been in the sorting facility for FedEx and they handle the packages much better and much faster.

Also, I found a web site for the flower pot.

www.goniopora.org

I was just browsing through it. I will read more when I have time and not so tired.

I went to Colins tonight and traded some monti cap for some live sand. His tank is awesome looking, packed to the rim with coral. The rics and gorgonians he got are sweet! I could have taken a frag of everything!

I saw you hawk eyeing my setup :)

Pack to the rim is no joke, a fish poops it's landing on a coral.

That monti is sweet, got it mounted, dying to check it out tomorrow after work and see how it looks in my tank.

Colin,
I am going to go over one Sunday to watch sports, get you drunk and have a frag fest!

It is one hardy coral as well. I got it was somewhat bleached, and came back within days. It then went thru numerous moves in the old 55, then the 120 fiasco, to the nano in 10 pieces it was to big for the 10. The piece that the frag came from fell behind the LR and grew it was about the size of a quarter. It is doing well in the frag tank.

I will be redoing the frag tank maybe tommorrow, dependant on how I feel after radiation treatment. I will have you over when it is all done. Just don't talk about the illness in front of the wife. She has been a nervous wreck, went ballistic tonight when I was talking to my Dad about it, then my Aunt called to check on me and she yelled at her.

Heck park me in front of an MMA PPV and you can frag away, I'll never notice (even with the couch next to the tank :) ) You just pay for the PPV o.k.?

Good luck tomorrow, hope all goes well.

Da Bears are going to keep us busy for the next few Sundays (Hopefully) but after that and when I get the dozen projects done on mine I'll swing by some weekend and see the madness :)

Projects for this weekend:

Eggcrate rack for media in the back chamber.
Install second powerhead in middle chamber (Got the parts finally)
Setup automatic feeder

That will keep me busy for a while.....

Guys,

The delivery came from Pure Captive and all is well, but there was a piece of coral that had these 3-4 little green clear balls on it. Almost like in the movie "The Rock". The casing for the poisonous liquid, just way smaller on the coral. Should I remove these or is it some type of reproduction?

Green clear balls is usually bubble algae. Get us the best pic you can but don't break them, theat's how bubble algae spreads.
