If you have a full bloom now, and you need to wait several days to get your crew that will be all the more food for them when they do arrive... :D

Get those pics up soon!! ;)

I did the moonlight fix. It worked when I got done with it but the second I installed the hood it never worked for some reason. Needless to say I went and bought a nanocustom hood that was already done that I will install this weekend.

Check out the PDF instructions and see if you can do it. It isn't to hard, I could have gone back and fixed it but never had the desire.

Nassarius snails do a good job on the sandbed.

I'll find the link tonight when I get home (and I'll post some pics by Monday here). It was the nanocube 24 gallon 108 Watt hood.

If you look at the entire setups (tank included) it will say that the hood is sold by itself. Gotta figure out all the goodies you want with it (what type of lights, upgraded fans, warranty, etc....).

I paid over $300 just for the hood. I'll get the link posted tonight if you still don't see it.

Cool dream Slukach, sort of like a huge habitrail for fish, aah who needs hamsters anyway? I once had a dream where my fish swam out of my tank and were swimming all around the house. The 70's weren't too good to me!

I think we got fish on the brain, but I guess we all do!

OK , enough of the flashbacks,

I can not believe how green my LR is getting in just 4 days! These PC lights kind of scare me . Am I going to be able to control this algae?
I think I will hit the LFS tomorrow, was planning on getting some hermits. I would love to get a perc. clown , but I don't know it just seems too soon.

Like the additional live rock you added, im having the same issue only the algae is more brownish and its on the sandbed. I stopped by the lfs and picked up 3 nassarius snails. figured I would try 3 and I can always get more if they dont do the job...

As soon as i dropped them in they went straight under the sand all you can see is the tentacles poking out, pretty cool.

As for the percs they are doing well and eating... I will post some pics tomorrow. if all goes well with these after a few weeks i may add the diamond goby to help with the sand issues.

The issues with the sand aren't really issues at all Greg...this is your diatom bloom...this happens to EVERY tank as it cycles...well, just about every tank anyway... ;)

It is normal and will go away with some time...mine looked totally horrible when it started...but, it is now finally starting to recede...now, I'm just dealing with other types of algae because my tank has a TON of light on it...

The diatoms will disappear...you can put a few snails in to work on the glass if you wish, but the nassarius snails really spend lots of time in the sand (mine do anyway)...a few margarita snails might work for ya...they are small and fit well in a nano tank...and they spend a fair amount of time on the rocks and glass...may also want to try some small turbo snails if you can find them, but usually the ones you will find in a LFS are medium to large...may have to order those from an online vendor that gives you a chose in sizes...

Guys,

I FINALLY have the pics uploaded to photobucket. And me, nor the wifey-poo, can't get them to come up on here.

Any suggestions, ideas?

Below the pic there are 3 http: addresses

Go to to bottom one and highlight the entire field (including the [IMG fields)

Paste that into a thread and the pics will show up

Ok, my woman tried to help me out. The other pics are up as separate threads on the nano forum. Sorry about that.

Let me know what you guys think.

Ok, I just got back fom my LFS and I am 50 dollars lighter!
I did ending up getting a percular clown Plus Some button polyps They were on a rock a little smaller than my fist. I would say about 1\3 of the rock was covered by multi colored polyps!
Hope i made the right choice! post some pics when i can!
