New to the Nano reef

Hehe...I just can't stop!! I went to one of the LFS today and bought a tiger tail cucumber (to eat all of the poo that gets trapped in the one little spot in the tank where I can't get any flow)...

I also bought a yellow feather duster...looks lime green to me and the wife but they called it yellow...she really wanted it - she likes the feather dusters...

I'll get more pics up when I can of the new additions...someone stop me...I have an addiction!!! :lmao: :D ;)

I think I'm the last one without a feather duster, gotta work on that.

So Jenny came by to get her clown and she was at a LFS last night and saw a Cardinalfish and remembered that I liked them and Tadahhh

The last thing I need is another fish, luckily the clown this guy and my neon goby are very small. Guess I'll be upgrading or adding another tank soon.

The clown is making me sad. I had them both in the little specimen container up until today. I added mine to my tank and he still stayed right on the other side of the glass close to his buddy. Then after Jenny came for her clown I had the cardinal in the container getting acclimated and the clown was still around the container. The clown is STILL 5 hours later at the top of the tank where the container was looking for his buddy :(
On the plus side he has 6 other friends now.

My wife and I love the Pajama Cardinals. I will probably be getting one soon for my larger tank since my Algae Blennie I had for 4 years passed away last night.

Moonlights are on right now...don't feel like messin with the timers and resetting them to get the lights on for a pic...I'll see about taking one tomorrow after I get off work and posting it then...

It is my goal to own the zoaid album and to find and name the next great zoanthid!:rolleye1: No I have a top 12 I want to get and have 4 already.

Jason, your wife and my wife should get together. If it is up to my wife I would have a garden of feather dusters, clams and all the fish that are not reef safe or cannot be kept in a nano!

Aquascaped the cube today, I am not all that happy and it may change.

The plan is zoas on one side, mushroom and LPS on the other, there is no room for the monster leather from Colin. I want that in the tank as it is fantastic and the clowns host in it.

Here a pic of two of the best admirers of my tanks.

Colin, where did Jenny find the bangai cardinals? I have been looking for a pair for weeks.

Tom

Coral Corner, they had 4 as of Friday afternoon, might want to call ahead, they usually are around in the afternoons. I've never been there but she loved it yesterday.

What's the other 8 on your zoa list?

Blow pops, PPEs, Nuclear greens, bluebery yum yums, dragons breath, armageddons, eclipse yellows/green bay packers and rainbows. There are others I want and some come and go from list but that is generally it.

Tom

Something new on my wish list, a sun coral! A buddy of mine just bought 2 sun corals.I really want one if I can find one . Has anyone heard anything about these ?

Hey guys I had these hitchhikers on my LR in the large tank .when I first noticed them several months ago they were tiny and sickly looking. Now they are huge , quarter size.
Does any one know what they are ?
I would like to move them to the biocube but they are on a twelve pound rock .

King, those are proto-palythoa's. I have some nice green ones, those look cool.

Any way you could remove the rock and hammer & chisel them off?

I really dont want to risk damaging them and there is so much nice coraline on that rock I cant do it It is the nicest piece of rock in the tank!

Ok guys...here is a picture of the yellow feather duster as promised...

FeatherDuster1.jpg

Very pretty indeed...this yellow duster was tucked in the corner of one of the LFS' coral tanks since December...nobody noticed him but the owner pointed him out to me... :D

Oh yeah...I definitely have a problem and can't help myself anymore...someone stop me...I went to another LFS after work today (20 miles out of my way :eek1: ) and got another feather duster...didn't want the other to get lonely...here it is...

FeatherDuster2.jpg

And here they are both together...

FeatherDuster3.jpg

And, I also bought a small peppermint shrimp to take care of some aptasia's that are starting to appear as well as some detritus and hair algea on the sand...no pics of him yet as he is still acclimating...

Tomorrow, I'm working at a different training center...and will only be about 5 miles out of the way to stop at the same LFS... :lmao:  They have Extra Small baby Hippo Tangs...only about the size of between a dime and quarter... :D I'm gonna stop and grab one on my way home...on orders from my accounting department (AKA my wife!)

Wow...I definitely have a problem! Anyone know their way to the local Coral-aholics annonymous meeting? ;)

Colin, I am jealous of the nuclear greens and the PPE's I had a colony of the PPE's when I first started and they started to get choked by some culerpa so I moved them and they melted away.

King, the sun coral is beautiful, but a lot of work. I had to take it out everynight and put in a container of tank water and feed it. I ended up bringing it back and getting store credit. You should chisle out the palys, they grow very fast with the right conditions. The spot will cover quickly with coraline or put a frag or colony on the spot.

Jason, NICE yellow and thanks alot! Showed the pictue to my wife and now I have the task of finding one!.

Tom

That yellow is nice, good score.

Tom, I'll get you both as soon as they grow out.

The Green Nepthea and the Cardinal are both missing, I think they both went off to Vegas for the warmer weather (Or the cardinal died overnight and the nepthea came unglued from the rock). No bodies or lose nepthea's as far as I could see, moved a lot of rock around trying to find either with no luck. Will do a waterchange Wendsday night and check the back chambers, gobies are known to hop into the back chambers, maybe the Cardinal did to, doubtful since I did a quick once over tonight and didn't see anything.
Pretty crappy night with the tank.
