Glad to see you made it!
I'm sure you will find that this is the place to help you make the right decision to get you that tank of your dreams. Feel free to start asking as many questions as you like , you will hear many different opinions about the care of a reef tank. There are a million ways to succeed with a system. Not all tanks are the same so not all tanks can have the same life support systems.
First ask yourself what you want to keep?
Soft corals, SPS, LPS and even that can get broken down into more complex categories. Each coral type can require special care, such as water flow and nutrients, try to choose those species that best fit into the balance of your new system.
Decide what you would like to do with substrate, I personally have changed my thinking on this matter in the past year and have embraced the bare bottom system, not because so and so said to but because I saw results on the tank I tested it on.
Likewise you will hear about deep sand beds and some of those conversations can get nasty at times, proceed at your own risk LOL.
Lighting is next, you have SE (mogul) and DE (Dual end or HQI) type halide bulbs to choose from. Also PC or (Powercompact) which are fine on smaller tanks but if you want growth and something to be proud of go halide IMO.
Their are a million and one ways to do a reef tank but you will find only a few will work for you. You need to find what I call the "balance-point" in your system, once you find this you will be successful in this hobby. Most get frustrated and quit before achieving this balance. What is the balance? Well that's a topic for an article I'm writing for the webpage, but in short it is the point at which your system reaches an equilibrium and nutrient import and export as well as chemical balances in the water are in harmony with each other. This balance CAN NOT be maintained indefinitely without supplemental assets provided by the aquariest (skimmers, powerheads, sand exchanges, etc.)
Anyway as everyone has said,
welcome
