My name is Justin and I just bought a 75 gallon aquarium with 100 lbs of live rock two weeks ago. I was referred to this site by a friend and was looking for some inexpensive coral and fish to get started. I kept all the saltwater from the original setup and have two filters, all the proper lighting and live sand. The tank came with a yello tang, two clownfish, some damsels and a shrimp. Is there anyone out there with advice or with this for sale?

Hey good luck.

What kind of coral are you looking for? Check out the state site @ WWW.iowareefs.org. You are kinda between alot of us. There are groups in Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines,

When you say "filters" what are you referring to exactly? Make sure you have or get a good skimmer if you don't have one already.

I would give it some more time, as you certainly had at least a small cycle started when the tank and inhabitants were moved.

Hey how are ya doing, great having ya around and I hope to meet you & your tank sometime. Are you totaly new to this, any experience fresh or salt water? Any questions please feel free to post, there is a lot of good advice. My only few tips for a "easier" reef are, Good halides, RODI water, Denitrator, and a good skimmer. Sometimes they are hard to come by when starting up but in time they really take a lot of work & headaches out of the equation! You can always just use a good halide and just do a ton of water changes and save your money upfront! Great having you Dave!

I will say its worth doing it right the first time too, try to research each one of your decisions/purchases. Try not to impulsively purchase fish, expensive equipment, etc. There is sometimes a reason why a certain product costs much much less than any of the other alternative, reef central has many many resources(human and otherwise) /writeups about just about everything and the loungers usually even throw in a little more :), so feel welcome to use 'em.

while damsels are considered a decent fish to start with, i would strongly reccomend getting them out while you still can.
