new torch. how long to open up ?? New to hobby

hey guys new to hobby i got a new torch last sunday and it hasnt fully opened up yet. its opened some not completely closed but not yet completely opened. i know new corals need some time to adjust to there new homes. but how long does it usually take for a coral to open up ? check my water levels and everything is perfect . its a 20 gallon with quad t5s and a cpr bakpak for filtration. what you guys think
 
It can take up to a week if not more sometimes, but it needs to be getting some amount of flow. If you see some tissue recession along the base then there's something wrong.
 
yea i guess imma have to wait. i was just worried because all other corals fully opened up the next day after i bought them . its now been 7 days with it and it seems to have opened up a lil more than before but still not fully opened. the tentacles are not long like ive seen other torches. the tentacles look stubby.
 
This is the torch im talking about, im starting to think its not a torch. it seems openned up but tentacles arent long like torches. where i bought it said it was a torch, i bought it closed cause they just turned on their lights so it hasnt opened up yet at the store.
 
yeaa but i dont know why the tentacles are so short, it opens up and at night it closes but those short tentacles are confusing, maybe its still not opened up all the way , ive had it for 10 days. it was under leds its now unders Quad T5s. two blues and two white bulbs . everything else in the tank is doing perfect
 
My frogspawn, another euphyllia similar to a torch or hammer, will sometimes vary its polyp length even day to day.

It also seems to close up more when my all is low or when it is getting too much flow.
 
There are lots of different varieties of torch, frogspawn, etc. In your photo, looks more like a frogspawn to me - and if so, PE is about right.
 
Looks like a torch to me. I agree the tentacles are very short and stubby. My torch same color has the long thin tentacles that flow nicely. But, I still think yours looks like a torch. If not a torch then possibly a frogspawn. Send another post back in a month or so to let us know if anything changes.
 
My hammer and frogspawn both took a week before they puffed up all the way. Even now some days a head or two will not open fully for a day at a time.
 
I think it's a branching hammer, E. paraaancora. Mine has some "hammer" polips and some "round" just like yours. If you get a closer look, you can see the polips are very short and conical, wider at the tip, but much wider than in torch corals.
 
hey thanks everyone for the replies, i was very confused with this coral .unfortunatley this is a branching hammer. i wanted a torch n the seller gave me this. i was un able to see it open when i bought it because the tank was just done a water change. but i trusted the seller because he has a good rep down here and all other corals ive bought from him have done well . well he grabbed this instead of the torch and this is what i got. lol so far its opened up more and seems to be doing well . although i wanted a torch i still like this hammer so il keep it . next one the list is torch though lol
