new ultra maxima's

menace

just got these new max's delivered on saturday. The blue one was a little stressed from shipping. was a little streched open and inhalent was slightly streched. these pics were taken about 30 hours after being acclimated to the tank. (on sunday) the mantel is not covering all of the shell. the other clam looks really good.
Will the blue one adjust to the tank in a few days? how do they look? I did bowl feed them last night.

thanks.

they are about 2 inches.

The blue one has not been doing to well the past two days. I think he was pretty stressed from shipping.

Under 2 inches are tough to keep. They don't produce their own internal aglae yet so all of their food comes from the water. They sure are nice looking.

Yes Barrys last lot of ultra maximas were so stunning that I ordered four of them, two are suffering from shipping stress as well...Im feeding them daily live home cultured phyto nanno .....one of them allready atataed to a small rock and some how its foot broke off that was a major bummer I still dont know h0w that happend when its on the sandbed! was the prettyiest one of the lot as well! So far its been a week and they are still holding on...no falt of clams direct, its just that baby maxs are tough at first...

Indeed. They are tough at first. Im really hoping this blue one pulls through. He was the reason for the order! The green one was so nice, I couldn't pass him up. After the bowl feeding, he seemed to be getting a little worse. The past two days the mantle was a little pulled into the shell. Last night I left them in the tank and poured in some DT's with powerheads/filters off. He did open his shell a little, as if he was taking in some of the DT's.

Im in the same boat...hope it pulls through for you, these clams were so nice I really hate the thought of loosing one. Its wiered I have several baby maxs that are doing so well...and a couple of stubbern ones!
