New Venustus pair

Was asked to share some pictures of the new pair, well UPS was just here not too long ago, and I took a few pictures....

The box was huge --- and I didn't order anything else --- at first I thought there was an order mix up.

That is a 5 gallon bucket...

Floating in the 75 to temp acclimate...

Their upcoming short short term home. Put in a few pieces of live rock for them to pick at, and to help with filtration. Will remove them if I have to treat and would NOT put them back into the 75.

Their short term home --- 75.

Their long term home, trying to figure out what size tank to get, going to be a 6 footer, somewhere b/t 125 or 210, the set up is for a 210, seeing how it works in that room for a couple of days. I had the 2*3s in the garage and picked up the boxes. Spent less than $20, and a couple of hours cutting the wood and screwing it together. Plus, gives an idea of how high to have the stand. Will make the choice by the weekend.

I always love DD's packaging. Good to see they arrived safe. I'm curious to see how quickly they adapt and start eating after shipping. Good luck!

So glad to see they came in well, they probably miss each other.

Right now they seem more interested in the new tank than each other, but zero aggression b/t the two.

Been a while since I have ordered from them (( or bought any fish for that matter )), and was pleasantly surprised with the packaging.

I just dropped in some Rod's Food (( herbivore mix )) and they both ate it, the smaller one is a more aggressive with its eating, but both of them did eat. They are both picking at the rocks and PVC. All things considered, they seem really settled in, and don't seem to care when I am near the tank.

A quick video of them.

Very nice! Larger than I would have expected.

Yeah, a bit shocked at the size, even the "small" one is large.

Awesome pair Todd, wish you the best with them!

Thanks a lot.

The "small" one is less shy, and eats better, but the large one is getting the hang of things.

Did a 20% water change last night -- feeding more often than I normally would, so want to make sure the water quality stays high. They were both out and about this morning when I left for work. Will put in some more food when I get home from work tonight --- going be hard to stay the full day. :)

Mine liked NLS finicky 1mm pellets best first day in qt, FYI (from Blue zoo).
It ate 1-2 hikari Mysis or brine, but did not enjoy them.
Yours look really good! I hope everything goes good. I have a single one ~3yrs now, that eats everything, including aiptasia and snails, does not care for Acros, frogspawn or GSP---but I'm pretty sure he killed my crocea that I had for ~7yrs.
Nice score!!

Fish look great, congrats. I like the 5 gallon bags they shipped them in also.

Box was a lot heavier than I was expecting when I first picked it up.

I had one for 4 years (( not sure what happened to it, ate one night, not there the next morning, never found a body )), and would anything that I put in the tank, including the pellets. Will have to try those tonight.

Mine really left my corals alone, and clams.

The old one, leaving the clam alone. ;)

And an older video of it, when it was the only dwarf (( kept it with 2 others without issue ))

Haven't updated in a while (( 2 sinus infections/bronchitis in the last 2 weeks will do that --- most likely getting a chest Xray on Friday )).

Anyways, I ended up moving the pair to my 75 (( a spawning pair of orange skunks and a yellow tang )), the larger one just wasn't eating prepared foods, and the few pieces of live rock weren't enough. I did a 5 day treatment of Prazi before putting them into it. They have seemed to settled in fairly well (( though hiding a bit )). Just saw the smaller one eating some Rod's food, and while I haven't seen the larger one eat prepared foods, it is putting on weight and looking a lot better now. Need to get an updated picture.

Ordered the new 210 for them (( not just for them, that was planned before I saw this pair, just sped things up a bit )), but don't see that having saltwater in it until early October at the soonest.

Ended up losing the larger of the two --- just never ate prepared foods.

I did end up getting the 210, and the smaller one was doing great in there;

It has actually grown quite a bit (( can notice the increase of yellow )), but is no longer in my 210. We are selling the townhouse and having a new house built. In the meantime I have moved most of my fish into a 75 gallon I set up at my future mother in law's place. It is sharing the right side with a pair of clowns, a goby and the flameback. A bit cramped, but it is doing great; the move didn't affect it at all. The left side (( separated by egg crate )) has my flame and coral beauty.

Can see the increase in yellow in this poor picture -- moving day.
