I've seen mention that there is an "original" 9002 and then a new version that seems to be slightly upgraded? Is this true? If so, is there an easy way to tell the difference between one and the other?
The old unit had the 0800.040 pump, the new one has the 1073.008. While not all of the new ones have it, they have recently started placing a sticker on the box that says- With NEW Silence Pump.
thanks for the confirmation. And as I understand it, the old ones are not upgradable to the new pump correct? Has the performance stayed about the same between the new versions, i.e. is the new silencer pump about all that different?
That is correct, the skimmer body had to be changed to accomodate the different pump. There is a very marginal difference in pump performance that results in no real change in skimmer performance, the new pump does about 5gph more.
