Picked this guy up on Thursday and loving him already. He's about 14-16" which is a little larger than I hoped but I got him for a great price so I'm not complaining.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks.

Just some blue damsels, a cleaner shrimp (which never leaves him alone), a coral banded shrimp, and clean up crew.

Going to add a Hawaiian dragon sooner or later and that will be the end of things, other than replacing damsels here and there.

Attempted feeding today for the first time and was unsuccessful. Obviously not worried since eels will often refuse food for a week or more when first introduced. Tried shrimp, smelt, and freeze dried krill. Definite interest was shown in the smelt and shrimp, and the eel went as far as mouthing it before turning back. Going to give it a few more days (probably try again Wednesday) and probably add a little selcon or garlic xtreme to see if that will do the trick. Also going to pick up some squid or octopus if I can find it.

Once he gets going you might lose those damsels. Wonderful species you've got there.

I highly recommend E. pardalis, but spring for the Japaneses form, they're SO much nicer.

Looks Good GrouperHead,

I bet he would like a Yellowmouth tank mate too :)

I wouldn't mix these species, G. nudivomer gets massive (one of the beefiest morays out there) and tends to eat whatever fits in it's mouth. Just MHO.

Thanks, I was really hoping you (and MorayKeeper) would chime in.

I'm not too worried about losing the damsels as I really just got them to help with clean up and to add a little color and flash.

Kind of sidetracking here, but to the Japanese dragons require cooler water temps than Hawaiian dragons? I'm keeping the tank between 74-78 right now.

Still hasn't fed yet but it hasn't even been a week so no worries. Tried some freeze dried krill today, and once again he showed a lot of interest but didn't take. Even mouthed the food again. I'm going to try some shrimp/smelt on Saturday soaked in garlic xtreme/selcon and see if that does the trick.

Don't sweat the not eating thing... it's taken me as long as four - five months to get a moray eating. Don't over attempt, your moray will stress far more easily than he'll starve to death. Try no more than once a week would be my advice at this point.

In my experience Japanese pardalis (which can really be from a few places in the West Pacific) are fine in those temperatures. An amazing species if you ask me.

What tank size I just got my skeleton eel it's about 5 inches hoping he doesn't eat my fish.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but at five inches I'd me more concerned about your skeletor being eaten. I keep my tiny ones in critter keepers inside the tanks to avoid this.

Ate for the first time tonight. I could tell he was hungry by his behavior and he gobbled down two large smelt. Good times.

Awesome eel! Do you still have your red coris?

Unfortunately not. I had to breakdown my 120g because I simply couldn't devote the time and funds necessary to have it operating like I wanted while I was finishing college. Sold everything just as he finished changing to full adult coloration which is very fun and rewarding to watch.
