New Wide Angle Lens...

Heard from a reliable source that you guys will be launching a new wide angle lens to increase the PAR spread.

Any idea when this will be released?

Also any details about the PAR spread, ie will a Radion Pro now cover 3ft rather than the 2ft cover current lens provide?

I have a 30inch long tank, and maybe this new lens is the reason I purchase my first LED unit.

Many thanks.

Ecotech won't comment until it is released so I doubt you will find out a concrete date. A 36 inch spread would be good. The majority of people don't use above 75% intensity so you could up the intensity and still have good par for growth. If this "mythical" lens is ever released, I am sure we will par it out and see how it does on a 36 inch tank hung between 9-11 inches. I think we are nearing the one year anniversary of the Gen 2 so who knows.

I have a gen 1 Radion over a 30" long tank and get great coverage.
Corals are doing great.

Do you have much SPS corals and are they located anywhere near the 30inch area?

I know the person has the wide angle lens already for testing. I really hope the wide angle lens works out.

Has anyone tested the par on a gen 1, 2, or Pro on wider tanks, like a 30" or
36" to see just how far out you can still get good par numbers?

you can refer to : Mr. Saltwater Tank's Review of EcoTech Marine's Radion Generation 2 and Radion Pro LED Fixtures

That does not answer my question.

In the beginning of the video he said there was on one place he could get par readings in the same place all the way down to the bottom and that was directly under one of the lights.

I want to know if anyone has tested par readings in tanks that were longer such as a 30" or 36" long tank with a single fixture.
See what kind of par there was out on the edge.

I have my tank split in half radium and radion 6' 180. I can get you some numbers tomorrow. Pm me how far around and depth. When I get home it is 20k preset and 85% intensity. Not sure on the height off the water but will measure that also.

I have gen 1/gen1tir & gen 2's over my 40 breeders in my basement.

GEN 1/ Gen 1 TIR and Gen 2 can handle a 24 x 24 spot. The Pro has more par and can be raised higher and you can increase the intensity to light I would say a 30 inch spot. Again it would depend on the right structure cause some rock work will be shadowing. Just keep the SPS in the 24 inch radius and the zoanthids and palys on the fringes.
