hi all, i bought red coris wrasse today aclimated it for around two hours (drip-drip) then i placed it in my quarantine tank then it just dove under the substrate and hasn't moved for the last 5 hours is this normal behavior for a wrasse?

yes very typical...they sleep in the sand.....it is also normal for them to stay in the sand a couple of days when first introduced into a tank

Agreed, almost all of my wrasses will dive in the sand when spooked or at night time. My leopard wrasse once stayed in the sand for 3 days straight.

Very common ... not to worry. If, however, it does not come up for air on day three, take a chop stick and slowly probe your QT's sand bottom until you find it.

It is totally normal behaviour, it is common for wrasses to stay hidden for a week or so when first introduced. I wouldn't however recommend poking it with a stick, leave it to come out of its own accord.

Thanks every one for your input turns out the little guy just wanted a rest for two days and now he is out almost all the time
