New Yellow Wrasse question

I purchased a yellow chrysus wrasse on Friday. He went in to the tank and stayed in the water column looking pretty calm for about 30 sec. He then darted for the bottom and in a flash of gravel was gone. Yes I know they sleep in the sand. It has now been 2 days and I have not seen him. Is this normal not to come out at all for a few days?? I usually have new fish hide but you at least catch a glimpse of them once or twice in the first few days. I have not seen any signs of himand want to make sure he is okay.

Am I worrying too soon?

I wouldn't worry till around day five. I've had four Halichoeres wrasses and all have differed in times to get comfortable.
It may also be possible he is coming out for a short time and not getting noticed if your not around. I had one that did this till he got comfortable and took well over a week till he was out full time.

I just recently got a leopard wrasse, and I had the same problem that you have. Luckily he came out after day two, and comes out @ 4:00pm each day, and goes to sleep around 9:27pm. Weird Huh? Good luck, and hope you find your wrasse.

Their would be several days where I would not see my yellow wrasse then all of a sudden I would look up and there is. its not uncommon for them to hide for extended periods.

Well as everyone predicted the wrasse is out and swimming around. My Tomini tang chased him around for the first few hours but now all is peaceful. Hopefully the wrasse will begin to explore the tank and become the aquarium pest hunter I hoped it would be.

Is this statement in reference to after the Wrasse had adjusted to your tank or upon introduction?
IME once they become established and adjusted to your tanks lighting schedule I would consider it unusual for the wrasse to hide during normal hours. You may have some unnoticed aggression problems or other issues that are making him uncomfortable.
