I duno if you guys have ever used this dip method for badly infected fungused over Zoos...

BUT however, A few months ago I recied two VERY BADLY infected zoo colonys... they had a horible white/yellowish but more white fungus all over the colonys... I tried hypersalinity dips... luguls(sp?) dip... direct iodine spraying... a normal salinity with Iodine dip... and NONE of it worked...

I finnaly tried something drastic, which WORKED and at that WORKED VERY WELL!

I just simply got some freshwater, 78*F, and matched the pH ... 8.3.... I then added two caps. of furizone(spelling?) and mixed the water VERY WELL untill the water has a nice yellow green color... then carefully taking the infected colonys I swished the mess out of the zoo colonys in this bath.... for about a minute or so... and then let them sit a minute or so... then swishing again for a second or two and placeing them BACK into the aquarium in a nice flow area as before...

and tada, an amazing recovery.... within a few days... no more fungus and recovering zoos!!!

I HIGHLY recommend this dip for badly infected colonys...

the water used was simply some tapwater with PRIME

I do NOT recommed EVERYONE use Tap... everyones tap in different citys is different... LUCKLY our tap water is good to use for aquariums...
if you live in an area of bad tap water, of course, use a purified form of water, either RODI or Distilled...

I believe the Furizome(spelling?) is the key to knockout any bacterial/fungal growth on the colony!

I used about 3 gallons of water...

What is furizome, where do you get it, and what is it commonly used for?

Furizome or Furisome, orFurizone, Im not sure how to say/spell it.. I forget the exact name.. but those three alternitives give you an idea of what it is

I picked it up at work/LFS it is commonly used for Fish Disease treatment.. it is an antibiotic for Gram Negitive and Gram Possitive bacterial and Viral infections... it comes in capsuls filled with a yellow powder.. you just open a cap. and tada..

??? not sure exactly what your asking...

If you mean Did you try JUST a freshwater dip, no, not JUST freshwater... I did the freshwater with the med. and matching the pH...
 
Shawn, do you have any more specifics on this stuff? Active ingredient? Manufacturer? Furizome or whatever? I'd be willing to give it a try. I have some zoas in desperate need of some kind of treatment. Thanks.

I just talked to someone who thinks he knows what it is and maybe where to get it. If I have any luck I'll post tomorrow.

It is Furazone I believe if the correct spelling..

I found this at the last fish store I went to today. It contains nitrofurazone. I'm going to give it a try and post afterwards. I haven't got anything to lose.

Got some specs for you guys...

Its called Furazone Light
by FIRST CHOICE

It contains
Methylene Blue .62mg
Nitrofurazone (monofuracin) 122.0mg
Furazolidone 24.4mg

I picked up some at the LFS today.

I had a mystery frag from my last order that had yet to open. I've been battling cyano in spots, and this colony picked that and a brown fungus over the polyps. Conscious thought was, "Hey, I don't know what it was, and it's free, let's try it."

Instead of using freshwater, I used about a half gallon of tank water (so parameters would be the same) and one cap mixed. I used a small turkey baster to blow it off, swished it around, then rinsed in a second bowl of tank water.

Frag looks much cleaner now, we'll see what happens in the next day or so.
