New Zoo's falling apart...

Yesterday I received a couple new zoo frags. They're been in my tank for about 30 hours or so. Anyway, barely any of the frags have opened and one piece is looking rather rough. It's loosing polyps. I've seen about 5 or 6 fall off so far. Is there any hope for this is is it dunzo?

Here are the others I've received:

I'd QT those colonies if you can and monitor them for a while. No sense taking a risk of infecting any other zoos in the tank...

Ugh, I have no way to QT it. Any suggestions as to how to get rid of the fungus? Time to send an email to the place I ordered them from. Another piece was supposed to have 5+ polyps and it only had 4. God, I just feel like screaming!

How long has this tank been setup?
Do you have any healthy zoas in the tank?
Please list your tanks params.:
Nitrite
Nitrate
Phosphate
Ammonia
Alkalinity
Calcium
Salinity

Also, welcome to the forum.:)

You know, I iodine dipped some that were stressed like that and wound up saving a few... the one with zoa pox though it likely won't help much.

My params are fine. The tank has been set-up for over 3 years and I have a bunch of healthy Zoa's. A couple of the frags from this place have turned south. Everything else in my tank is doing just fine. Heh, I picked up some new Cheato from a local LFS and I ended up finding 3 polyps in there. They're doing great. I've dipped the frags a couple times in the last few days with no luck.

Moma,
I bet it's a salinity problem. My guess is the tank they came from had much lower salinity and you might not have acclimated them long enough. Osmotic shock can injure or even kill animals. Usually by causing stress and then a secondary problem arises.

It's just a guess.
Good luck and test your water.

I acclimated them for about 3 hours. Most of the Zoa's from that order are doing fine. That frag is dunzo. It was completely brown by this morning.

I recently got a small zoo frag from a swap and it looked exactly like that. 3 days later it was completely dead and nasty and went in the trash.

If you already have it in the tank maybe see what happens in a few more days, but watch those levels.

This is probably something you already know but I find its also helpful to double check that your test kits are fresh, reading right, calibrated properly (whichever applies) .. sometimes they have been the ones that are "wrong" and it can mess stuff up.

Good luck with your zoos it is a really helpless horrible feeling when something goes awry in our tanks :(
