If you are getting your clam from the LFS( i have 4 LFS in the area so i have a large selection) make sure that the clams react to light and movement. also make sure the mantles are fully extended and teh colors are not pale. also ask questons i have a list of questions i ask
1. what does it eat
2. what water peramiters does the animal like
3. what lighting does the animal like
4. what temprature does it prefer
5. what is the animal's temperment to other animals
6. how sencitive they animal is
7. how much movement does the animal like
The number two question i ask the sales man is
8. what is your(the sales person) expereance with the animal
If they cannot answer this question then find someone in the store who does.
The number one rule for me when i'm buying at teh LFS is KNOW THE ANSWER TO ALL THESE QUESTIONS BEFOR YOU ASK THE SALES PERSON! if you know the answer to these questions then you will have a better sucess rate with your live stock, and you will know which LFS is truthful and which ones just want a sale.
you are doing the righ tthing buy asking ppl who own these animals questions. keep it up and do more research
