Hi all I need some ideas on how to plumb this tank with out drilling the bottom. The tank will have a external over flow at one 4' end & will be 30"x18"x6".It will house SPS & would need to have proper current . Has anyone plumbed a tank this big without drilling the bottom & plumbed through the canopy . I can make the proper current at the top of the tank but I am concerned about the bottom . I also would like to stay away from having power heads all over the place. I know this is a tall order & would appreciate all of your experiences & any pic you could offer. thanks for taking a look:wave:

the tank it is replacing is close to the same size & it cracked at one of the bulk heads & I dont want to experience that again . Do you mean under the over flow

I wish I could remember who but I have seen a tank that the guy basically built one or two big circles out of pvc with several outputs around it for a closed loop. he then placed it in the tank, with his rock work built around it. What are your plans for the bottom, BB or Deep sandbed? Will the tank be painted so you could paint pvc to match the back?

edit: saw that ightslurve posted this in another thread and it is close to what I was thinking. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1423726&perpage=25&pagenumber=6

Thanks for reply . I think I am going to use the closed loop under the over flow & I have 4 Tunze Turbelles that I plan to use. I was told the tank will be ready in 4-6 weeks. So gives some good time for planing. As you could understand there is much stress involved with the tank that is failing. So needless to say I want to get this new tank done wright the first time around lol I am more than sure we will run into plenty of problems as we are changing every thing from the wood stand to a powder coated metal stand & might go with T5 lighting without the MH. I think everyone is on board with what needs to be done at this point as far as the tank & stand gos . Again everyone thank you for all & any suggestions that you might have. I will post pics when we get the tank.
