Looks Good!

first one looks a little out of focus, or maybe you could have focused on the green eye since it is in the center of the photo.

I like the second one

3 and 4 look a little grainy, maybe high ISO? Just a guess, as I have not looked for any EXIF data... Try longer shutter and lower ISO, also make sure you are using a tripod...

I'll second the great start.

They look a little dark to me. I did peek at the exif on just the first one. If it read it right, you have -2/3 EV. Maybe try 0 or +1/3.

For coral shots, I like to use ISO100 unless I just can't due to shutter times and movement.

Love the colors in #1. What is that brightly colored lump of probably squishy goo?

Compare the noise levels between 1 and 4. #4 is noisy. ISO 1600. +1 for 90sShooter's and hypertech's exposure and ISO recommendations.

the squishy goo is the tyree l.e. jayda's watermelon alien eye. thanks for the tips. i will try and put them to good use. i do need to get a nice tripod soon.

I'm gonna hafta git me one of dem. It has two of my favorite things - colors and textures.

I view EXIF info two ways. One is to drag the pic out of the browser window to my desktop and right click for Properties on the item. Select the Summary tab. You may need to also click the Advanced button.

When dragging an item from the browser to the desktop produces only a shortcut to somewhere like PhotoBucket, I right click the image in the browser, select "Save picture as", save it to the desktop, then right click for Properties and select Summary tab as above.

Update - See two postings lower about Opanda IEXIF.

how do i check the EXIF data on other posts? very interested in what others are doing
If you use Firefox, you can go to Tools > Addons... and then search for Exif and install the small app. There is an exif viewer then built right into your browser, all you have to do is right click the picture and say view exif data.

Pretty handy.

Good tip. I googled a similar add on for IE, Opanda IEXIF. Downloaded and installed. Now I can view EXIF info by right clicking the image in the browser and selecting View EXIF/GPS/IPTC info with IEXIF. Definitely handy. Thanks Recty.

thanks again for all the help Reef Bass and Recty. i have a MacBook should it still work the same for me or should i download what you are talking about

Firefox works on Macs, so yes it should work the same as Windows. You just need to download the Exif Add On. IE stopped supporting Macs after IE5.

Not to mention you need to use Firefox as your web browser as opposed to Safari to make the Firefox exif viewer work. I love Firefox and use it on my windows machines, its just so much better than internet explorer, but I use Safari on the Mac.
