Newbie - can someone tell me what this is? Flatworm?

Hello,

I was given this piece for free (I assume it's a pulsing Xenia) from the lfs. I noticed it has several brown marks to it (some are on the heads and others on the stalks) can someone identify what it is? I'm guessing flatworm? Is it easy to remove?

Many thanks!

(Shows it best in the upper middle part of photo)

It's a flatworm alright, but none of the parasitic species. These are photosynthetic via symbiotic algae. Though they can get out of hand and become an irritant to corals.

Is this related to fish diseases and treatment?

As I said above I'm a newbie, so as far as I knew - it may very well have been related to fish disease, that's why I'm asking. Theroewer, thank you for the reply! Is there any good way to tackle it?

If it's only a handful I would try to syphon them off.
Supposedly there are some fish that eat them.
The final option would be Flatworm Ex, but that still requires to remove most of them manually and just use the chemical to kill the few you missed. Not following that way and only using the chemical will most likely end in a tank crash and lots of dead fish and corals.

I had luck with a sixline wrasse. Essentially he ate what he could and I just manually removed the stragglers.

I'll try to syphon them then! Many thanks for the reply

If they are just on one coral you could also try to wash them off with freshwater. As long as you keep it to a short rinse of a minute or so the coral should handle it.
