Hi just a small point regarding blocking led light source this can result in damage to the led diode as the light produced will be reflected back into led resulting in overheating or at the least shortening its life span Regards Mike

blocking is not really the correct term.. Reducing the amount of time they are running .. Turning there intensity down or raising them higher from the water ..

BUT Yes blocking as in putting something between them and the tank is prob not a good idea.. thou i am not sure i agree with you that it would burn out the leds unless it causes heat to build up into side the fixture..
