newbie feeding question

Hi, I am still very new to this but I can see why you guys love it so much. I just bought 2 small clowns for my 14g biocube. my lfs sold me some frozen cubes of food, and told me to put in 1 cube per week. I thought the food would last for a week, but it pretty much disintegrated within a few minutes. Is this really all I am supposed to feed them? also, as most of the food ended up in the filter, will i not get a nitrate spike? the tank also has a small starfish, a cleaner shrimp and a torch coral. I also have 'spectrum thera' pellets which i put in a small pinch a couple times a day, and some liquid food for the coral. thanks for your help.

I feed my clowns 1/4 of a cube or a bit of Prime reef flakes (which are their fav) once every other to every 3rd day, dropping in a whole cube at one time is going to cause problems down the road, alot of uneaten food that will just raise levels in your tank and eventually cause an algae problem, not to mention some very hungry unhappy clowns being able to eat only once a week

I would turn the pumps off when i feed. Also i feed my clowns (and the rest of my fish) every 3 days, mysisd shrimp, sometimes formula 1 flake, and they eat dried algae (attached to a clip.)

Nice clowns btw.

just shave off about 1/4 of a cube and put it in a cup of some of your tank water and let it melt and dissolve then you can pour the water in a little at a time so the fishies have more time to eat and u dont waste as much food :)
