Newbie - Is this little critter ok in out tank?

Bought a new coral today and noticed this critter riding along. Is it ok to be on this purple coral or is it something bad? It is totally grown into the coral. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Probably barnacle by the sounds of it but who knows without pic, does it have a little fan that shoots out of an eye like slit?
