Newbie kinda question about multiple pairs

Firstly, can a tank support multiple pairs of clowns? Roughly what would be the gallons/pair ratio be, if that would be allowed?

Also, a more specific question, with a 46 gallon bow front, could I have up to 3-4 different pairs of clowns? :spin3:

Thanks!

Can it be done? Yes, but usually with disastrous consequences in anything under several hundred gallons.
It certainly should not be done in a tank as small as 46 gallons. You might get away with multiple small clowns for a brief time. But as they pair off and mature, there would likely be fights to the death.

You can try 3 ocellars/percula but after a few years, when the male and female starts mating, they will/can bully the unisex one.

So basically one good pair of clowns for a 46 would be the most suitable?

Yes, 2 clownfish would be fine. Just make sure when your purchasing your clowns, get one clown big and the other small to reduce fighting.
