Crystal , Welcome to ANCHOR . We are a very informal group , of local reef keepers . We have meetings once a month , to share information , frags , and check out the tank of who ever is hosting the meeting . We always have a good time . What type of tank do you have , softies ,LPS , SPS , or mixed ?

Looking forward to hearing from you Ted

I live in Spring Hill, not far from Paul. I started out with saltwater about 20 years ago with a 38gal. Didn't know much but after lots of money and time I finally got pretty good at keeping fish only w/ some inverts. Then I upgraded to a 65 gal. about 5 years later. Great tank but still didn't want to try reef. Then moved to florida about 7 years ago and brought 65 gal w/ me. Had to start all over with the insides of course. Well about a year ago, I decided to purchase a 90 gal. from a guy named Joel, that had a beautiful reef tank here in Spring Hill. With the intention of trying reef. Well here I am 1 year later and I have been pretty successful with most of the soft corals. Not tried many hard corals. I am the type of person I like to learn all I can from others. But, it seems that most LFS won't tell you a darn thing worth anything. The only downfall I have felt about reefs is that there are not a lot of fish that are reef safe. Any suggestions are always welcome.
Right now I have the following fish: 2 clowns, 1 Naso tang, 1 sailfin tang, 1 blue hippo tang, 1 lemon peel, 1 pj cardinal, just added 1 lawnmower blenny. I will post a couple pics of my tank.

Crystal, you will enjoy the folks from ANCHOR. I've got to hang out with Ted, Paul, and Steven, and they're just good folks. Very sharp with their reef and DIY skills. You found a great group.

Welcome Crystal. Good to have another woman in the reef club. The guys are great. If you ever get over to the east side of the county, stop by. I'll show you my 180.

Diane

Hi Diane,
I will definitely love to come check out your tank. I do go to Brooksville now and then. I know what you mean by nice to see another woman. It seems this is a man's hobby most places. My hubby is addicted as well but doesn't have the experience or much knowledge of it. BTW, how many people are in this group?
I look forward to meeting you and seeing your tank.

Mike , Hey there . Thank you for the kind words . What's new in your neck of the woods ? Ted
Sorry to hijack. Yo Ted, I've got an Orca needlewheel pump coming in Thursday. I'm going to remove the becketts and the 2 Pan World 150 pumps and install the Orca. The Pan Worlds are TOO LOUD. Tomorrow, I'm going to FAOIS and pick up an Acanthurus Thompsoni. I've been waiting on one since I put water in the tank. I added a second chamber to my calcium reactor to help raise the pH of the effluent. It worked great.
Otherwise, all the same!

Mike , Sounds like you have a lot going on . I'm working on some skimmer changes my self . I just can't leave things alone . If you go to FAOIS , you need to post pics . That's a given . I've had good luck with my calcium reactor , with just the one chamber . (so far , knock on wood ) . Ted

Went out shopping today!

Went out shopping today!

I am so excited! I went to Tampa to this guys house that is moving to Alaska. I had been emailing back and forth with him for about 2 weeks. He was breaking down his tank and selling everything. Well, long story short I got almost 75% of his 55gal. There is so many different corals I have no idea what even half of them are. Got lots of inverts too....brittle star that is HUGE, 2 different urchins, some feather dusters tons and tons of crabs and snails all different kinds. 4 anemones clown an engineer goby? and a couple other small fish. I just spent the last 3 hours rearranging tank. Also, got a bunch of live rock some with coral some without. All in all....I spent $220.00 and got a ton of stuff that I am set for a long while. And also now have live rock for my quarantine tank as well.
I am a very happy camper this day! Crystal
