Ok so this is a definite newbie question..so I apologize ahead of time...

So....last Thursday I received some tisbe pods and have been culturing 2 separate batches each on a 2.5 gal tank....I have been putting phyto feast everyday...making sure the color of the water is like green tea....so my question is....is the assumption that if I am having to add phyto everyday that there are animals eating it?....I ask because on one of the tanks I can definitely see pods moving around.....however in the other I'm having a hard time seeing any pods anywhere but on both cultures I see the the phyto depleted daily....

Could the culture without movement have crashed?...and the phyto is just going to bottom and the walls?

By the way...both tanks are kept at 1.025 sal...78 degrees...and air bubbles

Thanks for the help

Take a good look with a magnifying glass. It's definitely possible to have no pods in the culture, but have ciliates eating the phyto or even just having the phyto settle out.

Thanks...with the magnifying glass I was able to see a handful of them...nothing however like the other culture where there are by the bunches now....I heave read that is better not to harvest for the first 10 days.....the first time you haverst...how much water do you take out?
