Newbie tank help

I did find some cerith snails online, but they only sell them in 100s. Also for the price its pretty good. If any in San Antonio wants some for free, let me know. I dont want these to go to waste.

I got a few dwarf ceriths from reefcleaners.org
I was really pleased with the order. They also have info about the diff CUC's they sell and they happen to have really good info pages about algae too. It's a great place to learn about that stuff.

I pull out some algae every week to get it and all the nutrients it used to grow out of the tank. I don't want it to get out of hand. I have a chunk of red stuff I keep though cause I like how it looks and it seems to grow pretty slow.

I did have a look at these, and they are pretty neat. A little expensive for a pump, but its cool what you can do with them. I think when I get a bigger tank I'll go all out. These nanos are all about learning. I know most people say to stay away from nanos, because levels can fluctuate so much. Also there hard to keep stable. Well I dont think there hard. I think you have to monitor them closely, and keep up with them. They are definitely a lot more work then freshwater.

Oh thats true, i bought my koralia nanos at the lfs...in which case they were the same price as the Jebao from amazon, but the Koralias are half the price on amazon lol.

Very cool website. Already placed and order for both of my tanks! Really good prices too! Thanks!

Update time! Did a 20% water change. Thorough cleaning of the tank, vacuumed sand for the first time, and everything looks so sparkly clean. Added first corals. I got eagle eye zoas, radioactive dragon zoas, maroon polyps, frogspawn ( got it for free from lfs), and a duncan head coral. Was able to frag a small piece of the zoas on to a rock too.

All corals are doing well, especially the frogspawn and duncans. Frogspawns already splitting, and duncans opened up as soon as put them under the actinic lights. The zoas were all a little slower to open up. Also getting some green palau nephthea tomorrow. I put all my freshwater stuff up for sale and trade on craigslist yesterday. Trading stuff for a good refractometer, and the live coral.

enjoy pics

Notice the red algae on the left. I ordered my clean up clew already, and I didnt touch it when I cleaned the tank. I think I'll leave it for the CUC

Looks great! Did you order a package from reefcleaners or just pick and choose your own? I got a 15 gallon package from them two weeks ago and they went right to work!

I ordered the 20 gallon long package, and they said they will ship tuesday. Quick response, and great customer service.

I mentioned reefcentral.com, maybe I get a freebie?

So I posted a bunch of aquarium stuff online. I ended up trading 2 20oz co2 tanks, glass bubble counter, inline glass diffuser, spider driftwood, aquascaping tools, and old regulator that may or may not be working. I traded all this for a refractometer, a huge piece of green palau nephthea, and $20. Pretty good deal! Im happy, and the guy left with a bunch of stuff too.

It shrunk some, but thats to be expected

I feel like such a geek! lol, oh well.

Another picture for size reference. Frag looking better, and what a nice color! Very happy with trade! 1 hour later
