NEWBIE, wanting to start my first nano

Well it seems like you only need to add ro/di water, and do weekly water changes. I would only keep one fish though. I'm not familar with the lighting so I can really recommend any corals, however, mushrooms seem to do well in any set-up.

OK first off eclipse lighting isn't enough for any type of corals. You will need to by a retro kit. Eclipse tanks are not a great tank salt water tank. I recomend the aqua pod. But you should replace the filteration also as it isn't adequet.

Mushrooms would be perfectly fine with that light, pretty much it. Mechanical filtration isn't even necessary in a saltwater tank, so don't get off calling it inadequate when it isn't even necessary to begin with.

get the nano cube 12 or 12dx. the 12 is only like 99 bux with the reef central discount from drsfostersmith.com and the 12dx with better lighting is only 139

I like the Nano Cube myself. Read like crazy on the boards, "New to the hobby" forum and above all, don't rush.
Quick advice, learn about QT and live it. It prevents a lot of impulse buys and problems. Don't put an anemone in there. Find a single fish that you like, there are a lot or them that are happy in a nano.
There are a lot of books out there, the best IMO, "The Conscientous Marine Aquarist" by Bob Fenner. Enjoy!

If it's a fish only aquarium you'll be fine....Butt corals on the other hand may create a problem for you in terms of lighting. Nano cube would be a better way to go. I prefer the 24 gallon. Why? More space.

Good luck..

You can use tap water you will have a little alge problem depending on the water in your area. I use it with no problems!

return that hunk of junk and shop at Drs. Foster and Smith

as stated above, get a nano 12dx

I agree. don't waste your time with this thing, poorly configured for salt. Get a 12 or 24 nano cube. It will work better and you can have fun modding it out for improvements. The Nano tanks work well. waste your money on this tank and you will be discouraged very quickly!
