I wish you could have read it as I wrote it. I am not really happy with the editing. It took out all the flow, and a lot of my words were changed around. The copy I turned in read much better. I guess I won't spend the time to again to make it read well since it will get chopped up anyway. I actually feel kind of bad because that version makes me look dopey. Thank you for the compliment and sorry for the rant. I just got done reading it over and I'm a little annoyed right now.

who took it upon him/herself to edit the content? I would say that is, besides illegal and unethical and all sorts of other words I'd rather not use, also a tad egotistical!
i say it again for, hopefully, al to hear loud and clear ( and I don't care at this point if I get booted off the forum and off the club):
we are getting too politically large to be a nice little club for friendly get-together! If we need some type of personal cloure of success, we could easily try doing that in our jobs. medicine, in my case, is about as latently political as the next job, and, I am in this club for fun!
We are at the verge of poking holes into our intellectual aquariums, thus forming growing separate puddles - the end effect will be propagation of the club, but instead of budding, it will be via frabgmentation.
I am very certain that some 9or maybe all) of you think that is harsch and overstated - but, give it a few seconds to consider my age and my background: I've seen lots, and I've seen this type of senario many times over.
Any flaming and picking is gladly accepted.

"The most recent CDMAS meeting was hosted by Rainer Feyer and his wife Catherine on October 21. Rainer and Catherine provided many excellent appetizers and refreshments, many thanks again for the wonderful set up. There were about 16 people in attendance and a good time was had by all.
One of the major highlights of the evening was being able to check out Rainer’s many set ups. Rainer’s main tank is a beautiful 75 gallon mixed reef, with the fattest Foxface Rabbitfish (Lo Vulpinus) I have ever seen. Adjacent to the tank is the 55 gallon sump, which is open for viewing along with the main tank. To make viewing easy there is a nice comfy couch placed directly in front of the tank, the perfect way to sit and relax after a long days work. In the basement is Rainer’s newly set up 120 gallon propagation tub. One of the interesting parts of this set up is Rainer’s ingenious toilet flush water movement set up. It provides a new wave of water for the inhabitants every 20 â€"œ 30 seconds. It is a DIY set up that is truly impressive.
One of the major discussion topics of the night was the format of the CDMAS newsletter. An outstanding print copy of a possibility of what the newsletter could be was brought by Chris Buono for discussion. Multiple opinions were voiced during this time, but in the end it was decided that first issue would be content only, and available on-line.
To cap off the night the meeting raffle was held. The first Winner was Ken Twinam. Ken won a 25 dollar gift certificate, donated by Drs. Foster and Smith, obtained by Kris Zimmerman. The second winner was Linda Close, who won a nice montipora plate coral donated by Tony Ambesi. The third winner was Joe Allard winning some Kent supplementations. The final winner was Dave Carter; who won a Kent pro scraper.
The next meeting will be an exciting one, the first joint CDMAS, HVRK frag and swap meet. The date for this event is November 11, Linda and Tom Close are the hosts. Hope to see you all there."

Rainier, with all due respect, I find your response to contradict itself. You claim the club is too political, while at the same time, you refer to my edits as "illegal". That's pretty strong for an attempt on my part to clean up some text.
We're just here to have fun, right?!

If someone spends the time to write something to add to the CDMAS newsletter It should be left as is. Barring any obsenities of course. Your not an editor, any editing should be done by council. And once again we wouldn't need to edit unless there was something offensive or false.
And yes this is supose to be fun so let the membership write how they want or else this newsletter will be sure to loose it's popularity.

Given the size of Steve's article, I think "tweaking" could have been done elsewhere....

.....I think its time to start a thread listing potential names followed by a poll of the top few..... Sorry, but I don't particularly care for "The Fish Wrapper"

Once again...in a previous thread we decided no "Cheezy Title" And it was suppose to be called "The CDMAS Newsletter"
At this time I must also state for the record the other decision we made...just for the record.
1-NO paid ads
2-No hard copy, ONLINE only
3-No use of club funds to produce this

Thank you all for the support. I didn't mean to stir up the hornets nest. But if my name is going to be attached to something, I would like it to be mine, or at least have some input in the changes. I think the news letter is a great idea, and should be fun and simple. Lets not over complicate it. I would like to write some more in the future, and be involved, but not if the is going to be controversy in it.

Steve, I truly do apologize if I harmed you in any way by making edits. In the future, I can be of assistance in making writing more easily readable. But, if you'd like it as is, I respect that.
Unless you're suggestion that it would have been okay for the last two lines of Steve's article to wrap to the next page (my design senses cringe at the idea), the only other place for tweaking was in Matt's article. They were the only two articles on the front page.

At last month's meeting, I came with a mock title of "The Fish Wrapper" and the general chatter was one of approval, so I left it.
Also, at last month's meeting, Joe told me the advertising issue would be tabled, but to leave the mock ad in as a placeholder. Which I did.
Also, at last month's meeting, Joe agreed to allow me to bring some printed versions to the CDMAS/HVRK joint meeting to show off a bit. Which I did.
And, lastly, "just for the record," no club funds were used to produce this.
Actually, I am an editor. And what does the Council have to do with grammer and readability? You provide guidance and organization; you don't dictate what members can and can't do.

Rainer, I'm with ya dude. I don't think your opinion is nearly as "harsh or overstated" as you think. In fact, I think it shows rationality, experience, and most importantly, a well grounded perspective.

In case it's not already obvious, I think it would be best to give your editing suggestions to the authors and leave it for them to do themselves.
After all, this is a FUN newsletter, right? If authors don't make edits on time, what harm is a little poor grammer going to cause? Certainly a lot less than making someone feel as if they wasted their time and effort. As long as we're all on the same page about not having to impress anyone besides ourselves with this newsletter, there should be no worries.

Either talk in person, pm, phone !! This is damaging the group. You need to talk in person or something...it gets out of hand on the board.
Hopefully whoever wants to bash me for saying this can possibly use the energy in coming up with a constructive way of getting this stuff worked out.
My suggestion is either talk in person, phone or PM each other. Keep the bickering off the board.

At this point I think we should do away with the damn newsletter, it always ends up with an arguement...
I mean ***, we are a reef hobby club, we've got nothing to show except the all nice reef tanks and the fun time we have once a month at the meeting (well some of us see each other more often as the club made good friendships)
The arguements have to stop as Linda C said, its like pulling the club apart....

I just HATE all the drama being set forth with it ...
